Sharawi Mastic Chewing Gum, 2-piece Dragée Gum, 100 Pack

I had been buying this stuff at the local Lebenese market for the past year at 25 cents a pop. Imagine how happy I was to find it in bulk! (Ok, you don't have to imagine - I was thrilled!) The mastic flavor is just right -kind of a mix between chewing on a pine root and sticking your tongue in a jar full of honey. The flavor fades after awhile, but good things aren't really meant to last.

The flavor of these are very good. They remind me of pine trees, mixed with black licorice and some other flavors which I can't really place. The flavor of each piece doesn't last long, but they give you two per wrapper, so it is about the length of one usual piece of American gum. This is one of those flavors you either love or hate. I, personally, love it. Beware, though, this gum does have sugar in it, and it does promote tooth decay. Don't give it to your kids too often, and brush your teeth.

I ate at a Lebanese restaurant and they handed these out at the end of the meal. I never had these before and found the flavor strangely addicting. I ordered these and they looks and taste just like the ones at the restaurant. The flavor doesn’t last very long, but that’s OK, I don’t want to chew gum for a long time anyway. It’s nice to have these little gums in my purse to chew after a meal or freshen up the taste in my mouth.

I imagine many considering this item are doing so because they want to have mastic gum for the health benefits or to mew with. To that end I find it fits the bill, and among the options here with Prime it is relatively inexpensive simply because so many competitors are exported niche items, or expensive "drops." But of my two orders, the first had a nice texture which made it enjoyable to chew in the period before it hardened further, helping work the jaw. The second that I got several days ago was particularly stale, not unlike the gum that came with old baseball card packs in the 80's. I'm still using it since how appealing it is is a secondary concern, but if you want a satisfying gum, this product may or may not be what you want. Also, these come in satchels containing two pieces each, with pieces I'd compare to slightly larger chicklets. I need 3-4 packets to get a sufficient wad for strength chewing purposes. This works out to about 21-28 cents each time, and that doesn't factor in that I've found about 5-6 packets a box only have one piece, not two. If your goal is to check without needing the mastic aspect, there are domestic gums that would probably cost you half price or less. I'd also note, for context, or a heads up, many middle eastern groceries or restaurants carry this gum, and usually at about half the price of here, which is the sort of value I'd give five stars here to. If it weren't for my need for mastic, I'd probably give this product 2 stars. For the purely mastic aspect of it I'd give it close to 5. So, I think I'll be charitable and give it 4, because I know most of you want it for the same reasons I did.

Good because it doesn't have many additives. They just need to improve their quality control. The individual wrappers are with two pieces in a wrapper. Sometimes we get 1 piece, sometimes we get 1/2 plus one....sometimes the wrapper is opened. Some of the pieces are tough to chew, some are softer. If I didn't like the gum as much as I do, I would question what else is going on in the production of it. I have ordered this product for a while now, just because its simple, free of the disgusting sugar substitutes and other additives, ... and tastes good. Improve the quality, and I'll improve the rating.

Delicious! I love this stuff. So glad to have discovered it. The taste makes your mouth feel clean and fresh and isn't overpowering like mint. I really like it. Shipped promptly also.

Good flavor. I would recommend. Nice to have a unique alternative to the usual. The 100 pack will last a long time.
