Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Tetracosa-core [24 Core] 3.70 GHz Processor - OEM Pack - Box

I ended up getting a bundle deal with my GPU which contained a motherboard that could only fit one of these ultra core chips. So naturally I grabbed the beefiest one available (this one). It works pretty well with my Aorus Master Z890. It runs real hot though. Every time it has to do any work it spikes to 90C pretty quick and stays around 80C while working through a task. Make sure you invest in a really good cooling system for this.I was previously on AMD, but because of the bundle giving me a mobo that I didn't necessarily want, I made the switch. It's not bad. Easy install. Really snappy with heavy load programs such as Blender, Zbrush and Substance Painter. Works great for what I need, and isn't bad considering this is my first intel chip in about 10 years.

I use this CPU in my gaming and video editing PC and it's honestly a step up from my 13th gen PC. Intel i9 CPUs have always run hot and the Core Ultra 9 is no exception. However, unlike the 13th/14th gen CPUs, you don't need a crazy cooling setup to keep it tamed under both light and heavy load(though for the sake of longevity I would still get at least a 360mm AIO or a 420mm AIO). Even a giant tower cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 Gen 2 will keep this CPU cooled properly. I don't do any heavy OCing, but the only high temps I see are during heavy rendering or compiling shaders for games(which this CPU does VERY quickly). I've used both the Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9 CPUs and unless you really need the extra amount of horse power, the Core Ultra 7 is a better value than the Core Ultra 9. Stability is also easier to achieve on this CPU thanks to it's incredible memory controller. However, you really won't realize this unless you use RAM that has a clock driver in it(Known as CUDIMM), because if you're not you will not see the speeds intel claims you can hit, and if you can hit it, gets very unstable. Installation is straightforward and the same across 1200, 1700, and 1851 sockets so there isn't much to mess up. I'll say again; you will not see the high memory speeds unless you get a CUDIMM RAM kit.Conclusion:Basically only a small step down from the previous generation, but you get so much more stability and it is way easier to cool than the previous generations. Early reviewers made it sound like you were buying an i5 processor in a i9 branding, but man is it so misleading. This CPU absolutely performs like its previous powerhouse generation.BONUS:If you already have a LGA 1700 cooler you're in luck; you can reuse it on socket 1851! the socket dimensions are identical!

Ui9 285K, GB Z890 AE WiFi 7 MB, temporarily using integrated Intel graphics. After many builds, 30+ years, due to unavailability of the competitors top end CPU I decided on seeing what Intel had to offer. This was my first Intel CPU build and WOW, super efficient, impressive clock and core management. I like Intel's approach to splitting cores between efficiency and performance, perfect for a workstation, occasional gaming where CPU demand can vary substantially. Simple WS tasks, CPU is a 0-1% load, 1 GHz, many cores are parked or have zero load, CPU temp ~30-32C , speed bumps up in speed momentarily during app launch but doesn't stay there for long. Looking forward to linking this up with a nice GPU someday, that's if people would stop buying to scalp GPUs and they become available again.

I am a programmer who works with compiled programming languages in a large codebase all day long, and I bought this processor after seeing it at or near the top of many compiler benchmarks. Indeed, this processor cuts through my work like a knife through hot butter, and it is a joy to watch it speed through tasks! And unlike previous generations of Intel processors, it is quite easy to keep it cool even with cheap air coolers. Despite minor overclocking, the processor stays 10-20 °C away from thermal throttling even under hours of the most intense stress tests (like Cinebench). Furthermore, the processor has been quite stable for me, as I have not encountered any crashes.Keep in mind that many of the mixed/negative reviews are focused on gaming, where the gaming performance for the price is quite disappointing. If Intel manages to iron out all of the major issues (a very big if), this processor will exhibit gaming performance similar to an i9-14900K while being significantly-more power efficient. Accordingly, this could be a strong mixed gaming/productivity processor in the future, but in the meantime, I would not buy this processor if having top-tier gaming performance is important to you. For productivity-focused users like me, however, I would highly recommend this processor for many productivity tasks, where it is often the fastest consumer-grade processor ever made.

Had to minimize core use with Folding at Home. The chip is much faster than my old Socket 2011 system, which was much faster than the SW Engineering systems we use at work (large fed gov SW work) but this 15th gen i9 just doesn't slow down.Even the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 (with 3x140mm) is taxed to keep it cool and that cooler has high ratings.

Does the job well, but a couple things to keep in mind.1. Make sure to update your BIOS or else you have issues w/ this CPU and MB.2. It does not have Hyperthreading
