Strictly Beds and Bunks Limited - Avalon Midi Sleeper Cabin Bed, 3ft Single

I've had this assembled for six months now and it has been brilliant as a daily use bed for my infant son. The most notable thing is that the timber is quite thick and this imparts solidity and rigidity. I assembled it by myself (at least for the initial framing would be much easier to have two people) and then painted the bed mainly due to no returns policy if it has been painted, so it had to built first to check for defects prior to paint. Painting it when built was a bit of a pain with all of the slats, and as I had nothing even close to a defect I'd certainly recommend painting the wood then assembling. With a coat of primer and two coats of paint it still looks brand new even on the stair treads. The bed can easily support the weight of an adult and it's large enough for two infants. Both things we have done. Purchased with the 20 cm mattress and if I had anything to complain about I think this might be the area. While the mattress is nice and thick, it is prone to sink quite a lot even with an infant on it. While this hasn't been a problem for my son or guests, if you prefer a firmer style of mattress then this is not the one for you. Frankly it's a fairly cheap mattress and for the same money you could do better buying elsewhere. Given the shoddy quality and longevity of kids beds on the whole, this thing is stellar if you have the patience to build and paint it. It surpasses the quality of most beds well past it's price point of a couple of hundred pounds.

This bed is very high quality for the price comes with everything needed including very detailed instructions once build this bed is solid and is so much better then others as has extra thick legs highly recommend this bed and company 5 stars

From other reviews, I had great expectations, and this didnt disappoint! The quality of the wood, the way the bed pieces fit together, the look of the bed and the sturdiness are all great. I have bought 2, one for my nearly 5 year old and one for my 7 year old. They both love the beds, and the ladder is really well designed and fitted for access so they can get up and down easily. Delivery was unexpected with no communication of when to expect but it came a week earlier than on order and all very well packaged/transported. Would definitely recommend and buy from here again

I was a little dubious about buying a bed from Amazon... especially one that only cost the price of this bed.....well I didn't have to be worried at all. Promt courteous delivery....and the bed is absolutely fantastic! the finish is excellent. Its seems strong and sturdy. I bought this for my 13 year old, 5ft. 5ins son. It looks like there is plenty of growing room for him. Im very very impressed with this bed, So much so that I'm thinking of buying another one for my daughter and I have have sent pictures of the bed to all my family and friends who have children. It's absolutely genius in that, it's not too high (So that changing the bed sheets is made difficult) but high enough to be practical and store things underneath. It's raw pine. I was worried about splinters and sharp edges... but so far ..i have seen none. I have some wood varnish that I'll use to coat it at some point, but for now I'm enjoying the raw/natural look of the bed. I may update this review in 6 months or so after my son has really tested it! Oh.. and it didn't take ages to put up. About an hr with 2 people... or one skilful one! Update!!!! 10th Feb 2019...My son has had this bed for some time now. It started squeaking every time he moved on it. And he would jump out of it instead of using the ladder as he is now so tall, he's 15. So I tightened up all the screws and...get this...cut off a foot and a half off the legs so he can climb in and out without the ladder! I removed the safety bar and now my son as a very lovely 'daybed'! It's strong and sturdy like the first day I bought it! It's really lasted the test! Very very impressed! Will be varnishing it over the summer holidays.

Very sturdy bed, not the easiest to assemble as instructions aren't the best, however it's a good quality bed for the price, would not purchase the mattress again as too soft and sinks quite a lot. Great service though and my 4 year old loves it. Only took away 1 star for the mattress and tricky assembly.
