So easy to use
I had a set that included a compass, but it didn't lock into place, so trying to teach a beginner how to hold it steady wasn't going very well. This one has the wheel to wind it out to where he needs it and it stays in place for him to use it without worrying about it sliding in or out. This one comes with extra lead and even a couple of extra screws and wheels, and it seems to be pretty sturdy. It's reasonably priced and good quality, so I'd recommend it.

Awesome professional compass, worth the price.
This is an excellent compass, definitely lives up to its claim of bring professional grade. Save for the lead (and the bottles the refills come in) the entire thing is made of metal and has a bit of heft to it. Sturdy enough for all kinds of projects!I did take one point off of ‘easy to use’ because adjusting the compass is a bit awkward due to the placement. But it doesn’t lose any more than that because while it is difficult to adjust while in use, you definitely aren’t going to bump anything off course or accidentally move the arm a few degrees. As a side note, shipping was very prompt and the product came in a little, clear, resealable pouch that I’ve chosen to keep for storage.

Good value for the money - could use a lock to maintain the length of circle
I actually researched these things before I purchased this one. It is of good quality manufacture. I appreciate the extra leads and points.Others said that this would benefit from some mechanism to lock the compass from changing. I didn't think that would be a problem, but it is. As I move from one piece to another to draw another , it is too easy for the easy moving mechanism to move. Even when I am drawing a circle, I have to be careful not to touch the turning mechanism and change it. I find myself setting the circle to be drawn, then sticking a piece of masking tape over the turning mechanism to assure it will not turn between pieces or even on the same circle.Still, a really nice piece for the money. For less strenuous use on a desk rather than in a shop, it would be a great tool

Works great
The compass arrived today, and I put it through its paces--I found none of the problems that I read about in some other reviews. It is very sturdy; the point and the lead stay firmly in place; the screw to enlarge or compress the circle radius works smoothly; and it is easy to twirl around in making the circle. It also comes in a nice recloseable plastic carrier along with its many replacement leads. I would recommend this to all my geometry students and will probably use it as my personal go-to compass.

Drafting Compass
I needed to draw 2 circles to cut a gasket so I ordered this compass. The 2 legs were not even with each other when it arrived. It took a few seconds to bend them back into place. This compass will go in the toolbox. It's worth the cost for my purposes. If I was using a compass daily I personally would have looked for one that wasn't made of bent steel for the legs, but that's just my preference.

Point does not remain in position
The needle of this compass is secured by a set screw. It's nearly impossible to secure the needle by turning the set screw without a pair of pliers and a large amount of force. The point should be secured in place by the manufacturer (spot weld, perhaps?) or another type of retaining mechanism. Surprisingly sloppy design, given that this device was created by a pair who tout their engineering credentials. The rest of the design is quite good for an economy compass, but this is a failure at a critical point.

High quality at a bargain price!
When ordering, I was skeptical about the quality because of the ultra reasonable price. Item arrived two days later. compas is straight forward to use; both the pointer tip and lead have adjustments. The main adjustment wheel is metal fine thread rod and wheel, allowing for finite radius adjustment. seller provides plenty of replacement lead and even a couple small adjustment wheels with screws. You dont realize how valuable a tiny screw or wheel is until you drop one and it falls into the shad carpet black hole. Highly recommend!
