I got this dinosaur terrarium kit for my 3 year old, and it's been a wonderful way to combine creativity, sensory play, and her love of dinosaurs. Building it together was a fantastic bonding activity, and she's been absolutely thrilled with the finished piece, especially the pretty lights.Pros:• Gorgeous aesthetic and dinosaur theme• Includes sensory magic sand• LED lights with remote control for added engagement• Encourages creativity and imaginative playCons:• None!First Impressions:The kit came well-packaged with everything we needed to create a magical miniature world. The quality is excellent, and the vibrant colours of the dinosaurs and accessories immediately grabbed my daughter's attention.The magic sand and decorative pieces were easy to handle and well-suited for little hands, making it a simple but exciting project to tackle together. We somehow managed to not get it everywhere too.Fun Factor:My daughter loved arranging the dinosaurs, rocks, and eggs, and deciding how her terrarium would look (with a little bit of gentle guidance from me).The LED light with the remote added an extra layer of fun; she loved experimenting with the different light settings and picking her favourite colours.It adds a nice personal feel to her bedroom and I think it's great she can show off something she made herself and enjoy it.Sensory:The magic sand is the standout feature during the build. My daughter spent ages playing with it, enjoying the soft, mouldable texture.Paired with the glowing LED lights, the terrarium is a fantastic sensory experience that's both calming and stimulating (for adults and children).I can see this being particularly beneficial for children with sensory needs, as it combines tactile and visual elements in a fun, engaging way.Verdict:This terrarium kit is a brilliant gift idea for kids, especially those who love dinosaurs or hands-on projects.It's a creative, educational, and sensory-rich activity that doubles as a beautiful nightlight when completed. Our almost 3-year-old is dinosaur-obsessed, so I didn't hesitate in agreeing to review this product!As someone who doesn't enjoy messiness, I was glad to find that the two types of 'sand' included in the kit are more like an oasis/disintegrating sponge sort of material rather than actual sand, so no mess is involved.Given his age, I had to do most of the terrarium setup for him, but I can imagine a slightly older child would enjoy using their creative skills to put it together.There are lots of different scenic accessories and dinosaur figures to add to the terrarium; too many to display at once, but this will allow us to revisit it and make changes together, extending play and interest.The glow-in-the-dark crystals are a nice feature, but I only used some of them as it seemed unnecessary given the volume of contents overall.Whilst filling the jar with the decorative contents, I was surprised to find that our boy had figured out that the light should be inserted into the recess in the cork lid and had already done it himself! However, I needed to insert 3x AAA batteries (not included). For ease of changing batteries in the future, I decided not to use the sticky pad included to secure the light; it sits securely enough in the cork without it. In terms of the remote (battery included), our boy was also able to work out which buttons to press to put the light on and change the various colours/settings himself.I was impressed to unexpectedly find that the remote/light seemingly has a memory function, as whatever setting the light was on when turned off, it defaults to when turned back on again.The fading light setting and/or multicolour setting have a calming effect, which could be helpful at bedtime. Equally, the static light setting could make the terrarium usable as a night light.I would tend to disagree that it is suitable for children up to the age of 12. I would say that age 8 is probably the maximum, if that.

I picked this up for my dinosaur obsessed 4year old nephew. He had a fab time building his little dinosaur land with his mum & dad. The products included in the set are fully safe for kids so the grown ups didn't need to micro-manage this fun activity.He loved the magic sand and was thrilled when he discovered he could illuminate his masterpiece with the light.... even better that he has multiple colours to choose from.The kit comes with magic sand, 12 coloured LED night light with a convenient remote control, 6 charming dinosaur, dino egg miniatures, rockery miniatures, and an array of decorative accessories. It kept him busy for ages which is a gift to all parents!I would definitely recommend for any girl or boy with an interest in dinosaurs.

I bought this DIY dinosaur light-up terrarium kit as a fun craft project for my kids, and it was generally a good experience. The kit is engaging, and the light-up feature is cute, adding a bit of magic to the setup. The craft itself was fun. It’s a nice little gift. If you’re looking for a fun and easy project, it works, it may impress kids.

A great product, child loves it and is far easier than real pets (!) Well made, great experience and hours of fun. Would recommend to anyone with a dinosaur loving child. Wonderful!! :)

There are a lot of parts in this to keep the cold occupied building it up.Although only plastic, including the actual bowl, they do look quite good. The remote control light is good, adding to the play factor. Note, batteries are not included so get a couple of AAA batteries at the ready.The end result looks good but I have a bit of a problem with the price. At just under £26 at the time of review I feel this is a bit high. I was close to knocking it down a further star.

Kids will enjoy.

This terrarium kit is super cool for my son! His sisters had unicorn terrariums, and he has a dinosaur one. I like all the little pieces that come with it to decorate the inside. It gave him a lot to arrange. He likes to rearrange it from time to time too. I like that there is sand in the bottom so that it can be easily rearranged. I like that they're boyish and realistic colors! The little gems or pebbles are fun to sprinkle about or pile up in a hill. Sometimes he gives a pile to each dinosaur too. There are a lot of variations that you can do with this! The coolest part about this is the light. It has a few different colors and modes, and comes with a cute little remote. It's a great nightlight and looks awesome on his nightstand. It gives him something to focus on and look at while he falls asleep.

Where were these kits when I was a kid?! This is a great kit if your kids or grandkids are into dinosaurs. Also great if you get to help them set it up for the younger ones. My grandson and I are setting this up a little bit at a time so he's very excited when he comes to visit. I love watching his creativity as he gently places the sand, plants and dinosaurs in. It's easy enough to change things around when you want to add or take items away (something he's done plenty of). The fact that everything is non toxic and easy to clean up has made me happy. We put the batteries in to check the light but haven't seen it yet with the top on and lit up. I think I'll get out some little Christmas items for him to add for the holiday.

My daughter absolutely loves this terrarium. She is 7 and is on the spectrum. She was able to put this together with minimal help. The instructions are very thorough and incredibly easy to follow. The jar is made of plastic so no worries of broken glass if it falls. There are so many colors and settings that the light can be programmed for using the remote. Perfect for any child that loves crafts and nightlights.
