High Quality Replacement Strap
This replacement strap is well worth the little extra cost. Unfortunately, the poor man always pays twice, as the adage goes. Don’t be that person. This is a quality, full grain leather shoulder strap for my 1950s Perrin Thor IV camera bag. This NJ cowhide strap is of similar workmanship as compared to the old Perrin of California high end, durable bags. It should give my camera bag another 50-60 years. (Not that I will ever know that personally.) I use it for my inherited (grandfather's) Perrin Thor IV to carry his 1959 Rolleiflex 2.8E-Type 2 TLR and related equipment. The original strap finally wore out about 10 years ago. I had considered a custom made one, but the cost was high. Like the original strap from Perrin, this one is made of durable leather, two layers of double stitched pieces, also utilizing rivets for reinforcement at stress points, instead of merely stitching as found in so many others for sale. It is sufficiently thick "full grain" cowhide leather (the highest quality level) that should stand the test of time. It is not the lesser "top grain," "genuine leather," plastic (PU) leather, and other forms of so called "leather" almost always used by other manufacturers. Those other straps will not last long. That's why there is a market for replacement straps. Also, the light to medium brown saddle leather color is a close enough match to my vintage cowhide leather bag. (The bag seems darker in the pics because I just finished applying a leather treatment. The bag will lighten back to a medium brown.) I also like that the strap can sustain the weight of my equipment and that it is adjustable. All of these details are qualities that demonstrate a high value product. My only relative concern is the quick release hooks. I wired them shut so they don't catch on anything, open up, and cause the bag to fall. I also don't know what metal they are made of because of the coated antique brass finish. You can never tell what pot metal is being used these days or where it's from. They are non-magnetic. They could be solid brass for all I know. However, the quality build of this strap in all other respects gives me some confidence in their components. In addition, no other reviews have mentioned that they have failed. Highly recommended.

Excellent Quality
I'm very impressed with the quality of this strap. I had previously purchased a replacement strap for my very heavy purse (in excess of 5lbs most days), but the clasps broke literally within a day of receiving it. I hoped this one would be up to the challenge, and it appears it will do the trick! The leather is excellent quality & well stitched - thicker than the average replacement strap sold on Amazon. The clasps are really heavy duty, as are the buckles. I'm convinced they will hold up to the weight of my purse. It's very stiff, but not at all uncomfortable. I suspect it will soften somewhat with use, but not much. It's VERY sturdy. I'll have to update this review after I've used it for a while, but so far it appears to be worth every penny! It seems the phrase "you get what you pay for" really does apply here!

Quality!!!
I bought this strap along with another leather strap that was about $10 less. There’s no comparison in quality and the little bit of extra paid for this strap pays back in dividends in value! You can tell it’s made to last with beautiful and durable leather. The leather is thick and supple, unlike the second strap which is really thin and rather stiff. The clasps on this strap are tough and I would trust them with the heaviest of bags. The cheaper strap has a really weird design, where the buckle is about in the middle of the strap and so it lands on your shoulder. Super uncomfortable! And did I mention the smell?! Whatever that leather is made of, it stinks awful! I will definitely be keeping the strap from NJ Co. It smells good, and will nicely accent a variety of bags. Save yourself the headache (literally, lol), pay a little more and get 10x more value for your buck. I will definitely be returning the smelly, uncomfortable strap.

At last! A strap that does what it's supposed to
It's the only strap that stays at the length you put it, thanks to the buckle. The shoulder piece is not padded, but it's comfortable anyway, and doesn't slip off the shoulder. For my heavy tool kit, it's perfect and classy.

Sturdy and thick, but not perfect
First of all, this review will be updated once I have used the strap for a while, to be as accurate as possible. As of today, 10/23/2018, I have used the strap daily for about a week. Pros: This is probably the best leather strap I have had so far in terms of sturdiness. It's thick, holds really well in place, and the hooks don't feel cheap at all. Cons: At first, the strap and the pad left tiny leather pieces on my clothes/shoulder( but NO STAINS. I know that's a problem with a lot of straps). The color is slightly lighter than I expected, but that's not really a problem, and probably varies from strap to strap and also what monitor you're using, but keep it in mind. I hoped I would get the all dark brown one, but as advertised in the product description, the main one is the chocolate/camel mix so I was not surprised or anything. Finally, when you tied to the very first hole, the belt goes lower than the hook, not very harmonious and that's some nitpicking, but I'm just trying to let everyone know. (see picture) Obviously won't be an issue if you're on the taller side. So far, I'd recommend it!

Amazing quality, looks great with Michael Kors bag
I bought this to go with a Michael Kors brown duffel that was missing a shoulder strap. The dark brown looks great, and as other reviewers have said this strap is seriously thick and well-made - feels strong enough to pull a horse . The rough-hewn Crazy Horse type leather with light stitching should go with just about anything brown. Strapped to the duffel on my shoulder (I'm average 5'9" height) with the buckle set to the last/shortest hole, my bag rests where I want it by my hip. Excellent buy, and well worth the extra $20 or so over all the cheapo Chinese nylon straps out there.

Good strap. Bad clasp.
I bought this in 2022. Three years later the swivel clasp broke. Love the strap, but I would have hoped it would last longer than that.

Poor quality clips. This is the second time I've had one break, and this one didn't even make 6 months. Fortunately it didn't break my laptop this time.
