The Herbal Body Book: A Natural Approach to Healthier Hair, Skin, and Nails

I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in experimenting with home made natural body products. I had a copy 15 years ago and lost it along the way, so I was excited to see there were still copies of this out of print book around and have recently gotten another copy. The recipies are easy to follow and once you stock up on the basic ingredients, you can make yourself a simple inexpensive facial cleanser up to a luxury body lotion, all for the fraction of the price you would pay for brand name or botique products. It covers carrier oils and essential oils and the many ways you can use them from head to toe.

very knowledgeable and well written. so much to try, things to create with my essential oils and herbs.Great way to get wonderful products without all the chemicals, that I know are just perfect for me.

nice and easy to use with useful information

Similar to her other books the ingredient lists can get a little out of control. An example of one recipe "cleansing and rejuvenating oil recipe"- 2 tablespoons EACH : melted coconut oil, apricot kernel oil, avocado or sunflower oil, grapeseed, jojoba, sweet almond and virgin olive oil -- Vitamin E oil --- 5 drops of carrot seed , sandalwood, lavender or rosemary essential oil. This is going to cost a small fortune to make and it is unnecessary. As a fellow esthetician, I can narrow this down to one carrier oil that is good for every skin type, Jojoba. If you are looking for a book that is fun and uses ingredients you can find in your own kitchen I recommend  Babushka's Beauty Secrets: Old World Tips for a Glamorous New You . If you are looking for something a little more sophisticated I recommend  Do It Gorgeously: How to Make Less Toxic, Less Expensive, and More Beautiful Products . You will invest some money making her products but the recipes are well developed and effective. With few exceptions I can't find much fault with any of them.

Excellent book of recipes for all kinds of homemade facials, shampoos. Etc. Have had my book for yesrs and bought this one as a gift. Plan to order more as gifts. Love to make the egg white and corn starch facial. Leaves my skin silkly smooth.

I love this book. I was looking for a book that had recipes for natural skincare. I actually checked this book out from the library and love it so much I bought it.
