STANLEY FATMAX Pro Box Beam Level, 900mm/36", 0-43-636

I already have a 1200mm fatmax model which I acquired a few years back and to be fair it is absolutely superb! I purchased the 2000mm model on the back of this experience. The item arrived in bubble rap and when opened seemed OK.However, onto testing....Vertical vials were all OK and plumb but the horizontal via was out. Tested it on my granite worktop and the machine face was completely flat on all surfaces but when you rotate the level around, the horizontal level was not reading the same on the exact same surface - which indicates that the vial has not been set "true" in the factory. Very disappointing to say the least.... I wanted to test it to see if it was in tolerance of 0.5mm per metre. What then became blatantly apparent is that he curvature of the vial tube is way too severe and you could increase the end points of the level by 2/3 mm before it would register any bubble deflection. This is not great if you want accurate readings. To be fair its a nice looking level and the vials are easy to read etc. but just left down by poor fabrication and a vial tube design which has too much curve in the tube for a 2m level. Suffice to say - it was returned as not fit for purpose and I ended up buying a Stabila instead which I am very pleased with even though it was delivered in a black polythene bag with no other wrap protection by Amazon! Thankfully it survived the journey with accuracy intact.

I was looking for a lengthy level to put up a long curtain pole and this fit the bill, strong, durable and more importantly accurate. Stanley are really demonstrating what they do best here and the item should help me through future projects where such a tool is needed. This pro level looks like it can take a battering and will come out the other still shiny and new.Solid acrylic viles to keep them intact even when drops, large viles for easy viewing, rubber bumpers, the two well positioned handles are comfortable and good send when you have this thing above your head and considering the size pretty light for a compete peewee like myself.If you are a Prime customer it will be the best £23 you have ever spent, but even if you are not a Prime customer this tool wins hands down even over Stabila for design, price and features. Some reviews state that this is not a Stanley Fatmax Pro level......well wrong.....this is a pro level as listed and this has been confirmed with Stanley. I think some people are getting confused with the Stanley Fatmax Xtreme level which is a different product.

Wish I had found this level sooner as I always had bad results with cheaper versions from other brands. Firstly this is very light weight and feels good in your hand so makes it very comfortable when checking level on the ground, or when on ladders and even hard to reach places. Secondly the clarity is great as you can clearly see if anything is off and correct as you go along. Overall i think this is a must have for Professionals and Diy'ers as this has helped save me money having to hire anyone else in to carry out small home projects which I have comfortably been able to do myself now! Highly recommend!

Very well built, machined edge on both sides so can be used in either orientation. Great for doing radiators, curtain rails, plasterboard walls (to check studs etc) and very handy for checking for dips and inconsistencies in walls over long 2M distances.I've found myself reaching for this level a lot more than my cheaper 1.8m level (from a different brand) as It's just that good.

I have been satisfied with the 600mm level and having broken my previous 1200mm level needed another. I looked at Stabila levels at Toolstation but decided that the handgrip holes on the Fat Max, which the Stabila lack, made it more useful and the 600 Fat Max had been perfectly good so the 1200 version should be just as satisfactory. As a surveyor, a reliable but portable level is an essential tool.

Got it a day ahead of schedule, very pleased to find inside the package the item from the picture, some of the previous reviews got me slightly worried! Very happy with it and at the price I paid for it there’s no comparable level on the market. Very happy customer here!

A good looking and functional piece of equipment. In fact so attractive I find I take great care in where I put it and making sure it doesn't fall over. That said it does the job.

I have heard some people mention that the Fatmax Levels have gotten progressively lesser in quality and may not be what they once were, I have never owned one before, I am happy with the accuracy and quality. They are relatively lightweight but not in a negative way as it makes them comfortable to handle. The construction appears to be strong and with care I am hoping to get many years of use from this
