Amazing watch, aesthetically pleasing
It's a Garmin, what else is there to say. Its capabilities are beyond expectations.I'm coming from an instinct 2x and epix gen 2.I got this initially for the battery life, which was amazing! There was nothing new my epic couldn't do, except for the flashlight, maps and microphone. I haven't used maps since I got my epix. And the flashlight is such a luxury but it's not worth the price in 'upgrading'.It's such a beautiful watch and you could feel the quality in weight. The band is comfortable, and the size took a bit to get adjusted.I was upgrading for the fitness capabilities, again nothing my watches couldn't do.So I think I'm gonna be returning it, and soley for the legibility in doors, I thought it would be more legible even with low light but I've found myself to have to move my arm a certain way to read it. I didnt want to have the brightness up due to the battery drainage. If it was my first garmin watch, it'd definitely be worth the price.

Nice Watch.
I have the Fenix 6 and I liked the idea of having a touch screen. So, I made the purchase of the new Fenix 8. I was a little nervous getting the 51mm but I'm glad I did. I don't think you would be disappointed by purchasing this watch.

47mm > 51mm
Great watch but SLIGHTLY TOO BIG Im a big guy at 6'1 220lb athletic build and it felt big - so I absolutely loved the watch itself however, it felt like I was wearing a little blocky computer on my wrist - i ended up returning and going for the 47millimeter solar, which is an absolutely perfect size & fit. I didn't think that a few millimeters would make that big of a difference, but honestly, it does. Coming from an Instinct 2X Tactical Solar i already knew I wanted MIP display instead of OLED due to better battery life as well as simple personal preference. This has every bell and whistle I could ever want, i actually avoid using it like a true smartwatch ie. Turn off phone notifications etc and utilize it for weight lifting, weather updates for work, then of course gps and maps for hunting, atvs and hiking etc.... Great watch

Best Smartwatch for Adventurers
I owned the Garmin Fenix 5s for 6 years until deciding to upgrade. I loved the Fenix but I wanted more capability as a smartwatch. The release of the Fenix 8 met all of my needs so I purchased it. I’ve been impressed so far and love the extra features. From the actual touch screen ability, built in speaker, and app integration it’s a huge upgrade over the older generation. I much prefer this to my wife’s Apple Watch due to the superior fitness and map features, not to mention the battery life is insane on the Fenix 8 Solar! I love not having to charge it for weeks at a time, even when using activity tracking regularly. This comes in handy during backcountry trips where I didn’t want to use a battery bank to have to charge my watch every other day. Over it’s a huge upgrade over past models and is a rugged watch filled with many features.

Great for Android. Thumbs down for IOS
One of the things they don’t really talk about in the description for this watch is that most of the features you’d expect from a smart watch synced to your phone won’t work unless you’re using an android. For example if you get a ring notification on your iPhone, the watch will tell you but you won’t be able to see the image or video. My Apple Watch shows it. I spoke to the folks at Garmin at Shot Show 2025 and they had no plans to fix this issue with Apple. I still love the watch but find myself switching back and forth with the Apple Watch depending on what I need.
