My two oldest kids rooms are right off of each other, just separated by a door so for a while any time I needed my son's attention I would ask her to knock on his door or go in his room to get him for me but he would always yell at her thinking she was just doing it to pester him. So I put one of those medical alert buttons in his room when I needed him for something. While that has worked out well, I wanted to "upgrade" to a unit like this one where I could talk to him through as there are a lot of times I just need to ask him something instead of him having to get up, walk through his sister's room just to answer that quick question then walk back through...etc. So needless to say this intercom system has been that extra level of convenience we needed! It's very easy to set up and operate. The speaker quality is nice and clear, there is a bit of a delay in being able to start speaking when you hold the talk button down. So if you immediately start to talk as soon as you push that button it will cut the beginning part of what you're saying off. I don't necessarily think that's a flaw or defect in the way these were designed, it's just something to keep in mind when using the system.

The media could not be loaded. The Duplex Intercom System for Home Use by Hosmart, is a solid option for easily communicating between two rooms or somewhere without cell service. It’s easy to use with an effective calling option and clear communication without much interference. The distance has been good for me at about 800ft., but I don’t take it to the max of 1500 feet. The quality is decent, but cheaper feeling then I was hoping, making it feel light and hollow. It's nice that it can be plugged in or run on a AA battery.Overall, this has been a worthwhile option that has allowed easy and effective communication. I'm really impressed with this intercom system, especially for the price. It exceeded my expectations, and it works great. It transmits clear and loud audio, and it's perfect for my home. I spend a lot of my times downstairs in the garage, and now the Ms can give me a shout from the upstairs kitchen if she needs me for something (I'm rethinking the installation of this as I'm typing :) haha )If I had one complaint, I wish that it included rechargeable batteries to make it truly wireless. As it is now, you can run it off of AA batteries (two for each side), or you can plug it into a wall outlet. I chose to mount them to the wall and use AA batteries. So far, the battery life is good, but I think these would be a home-run if you could just plug them in periodically to recharge (I'm thinking similar to our Ring alarm keypads). Anyway - it works well, and I think it's a decent value. If you need an intercom for your home or office, I think that this is a solid option.Recommended.

Especially since our dog is currently on bed rest, my fiance and I have to carry her up and down the stairs, and she wants to follow me around all the time, sometimes we need her to stay put. These have allowed my fiance and I to be able to talk on the separate floors and avoid the yelling and "WHAT" and the frustration that comes from having to repeat yourself several times. I also really like the call feature, allowing it to ring (annoyingly) to get the person's attention.

Sound is very good. Also, it has the battery option, but no batteries come with it and that's a bummer for me as wireless should mean wireless and not, wireless but leave it plugged in because batteries are not included. Maybe a two-way radio would work better.
