Non professional webcam
When creating this review you've got to consider certain variables such as technology, price, platforms, ease of use, likely use and predictive longevity, among other aspects.Straight out the gate, its by no means a bad webcam although you wouldn't use it thing any streaming at a professional level but is totally fine for conference calling. It features a 1080p HD camera and built in microphone that will not only pick up your vice but every sound within your environment its not a microphone that is designed specifically for voice but for every sound, where as a dedicated streaming microphone is either position closer to the mouth or a standalone directional microphone both of which help to reduce external environmental sound this one wont.Although 1080p HD isn't particularly bad its not as good as 4K or 8K technology, especially with rumours of 16k displays soon becoming available. 1080p has been around since 2011 however 4k started immerging around 2012, it is a fact that technology is rapidly moving forward but so are online services which demand videos to be displayed at a certain level so they can promote their Ultra HD 4k services. However many displays remain backwards compatible and will no doubt continue to be able to display 1080p for the many years ahead. This webcam is perfectly suitable for home and home office use.The price is great under £20, its super easy to use plug n play and small size means that its easily transferable to multiple devices that do not have a webcam.Definitely recommended for the right use.

Dreadful quality - avoid
As the headline says, this is just awful, the picture quality and the Mic just shockingly bad. I think my first ever smartphone from the late 90s had better quality. Sent it back for a refund.

Generic webcam
Wasn't expecting a real good HD picture from such a basic model, but it did provide a stable 1920x1080 stream at 30fps using such software as guvcview and video4linux. Focus has to be performed manually, and it is mounted on a ball so can be finely adjusted in addition to the hinged mounting plate, which has a standard screw thread to use with tripods and such. The resultant picture was more than adequate for video calling, with an effective microphone. It was able to maintain decent quality in artificial light, low light and didn't display masses of sensor noise in darker scenes. Have had this pointing at the sky out of a window, and streaming over local network without issue so far and maintaining a usable picture in different lighting conditions. The current price of £12.99 feels a bit much for a nothing special camera, that doesn't feature built-in lights nor night vision mode, but would just do a basic job as long as you have good lighting for your face. However, I did encounter some problems when using this with either an extension cable or a USB hub, where picture distortion or improper function of the webcam occurred.

Good value and works well
For £12.99 this is a bargain, I was honestly expecting it to be terrible but the image is surprisingly clear in a well lit room. The focus is manual, you adjust it by twisting the ring around the lens, it's quick and easy to do, and you can get pretty good focus. The microphone isn't amazing but it works and to be honest webcam mics aren't great at the best of times. You will definitely be better of with a light or s very well lit room with natural light, at night or in a dark room the picture quality drops off a lot but again, most webcam do.It is 1080p, way better than any laptop built in webcam and not a million miles behind well known brand webcam in image quality, if you ignore the no auto focus thing, which I honestly don't mind. You might find it a problem if you're always moving about, like more than 2ft backwards but otherwise it's fine.I really can't complain, it's cheap and works more than well enough.

Such a difference
This has made such a huge difference in the video quality compared to my built in webcam on my laptop. The mic quality is a little muddy and I found that the mic quality on the headphones I use is much better.Though the quality is better than what is offered on the inbuilt webcam, Its not 4K or anything after all it is only £12.99 so for that price its great.I can recommend if you have a poor quality webcam.
