Good Software but Lacks Map Compatibility
I'm not having much success with sat navs at the moment. I bought a Garmin version - a make I've used for years only to run into the misery that is their online software system at which point I thought I'd give TomTom a go.And whilst not quite as well made physically as the equivalent Garmin it was super easy to connect to my computer and their servers for updates. A real winner I thought. Ten out of ten for TomTom.Then it came to a stop. I wanted this to take with me to Saudi as driving there is a combination of misery, seat of your pants excitement and confusion as to where you are supposed to go. So I duly logged on and went to buy the download maps at which point it asked me to input the device serial number to find out if it's compatible with their download.Which it isn'tSeriously? What a ballache. Nowhere on their site, packaging of selling info tells me that a brand new current model sat nav isn't compatible with their own downloadable maps. Surely it can't be beyond the wit of man to have a map with a list of compatible devices? The very fact that you have to put the serial number in first is bonkers because the only way to know if it will work is to buy the damn thing first. Aghhhh. So it goes back. The actual machine is okay. Generally not quite as good as the similar priced Garmin in build,m screen quality and clarity but perfectly acceptable. The plus over Garmin is that their online software works - with the proviso that you have a compatible device that is.So to round up, TomTom knocks Garmin into a cocked hat with regard to their online updating system because it works with minimal fuss. But zero out of ten for the fact they have not made clear what maps are compatible with their products.

Tom tom letting us all down
Without warning, I have received an email to tell me that my tomtom will no longer work because it has fallen victim to the GPS week number rollover of April 6th. Nothing else has fallen over as a result of this bug and - inevitably - there was no prior indication of this vulnerability or I would not have bought this model. Tomtom now have the insolence to suggest that my best fix is to buy another tomtom that does not have this problem. They are suggesting a Go Premium at £295 - and this is supposed to be a bargain! As it happens, I have loaded tomtom onto my Android phone and it works fine from there (better than the standalone unit) but I write this report in order to protest at what I see as the sharp practice of TomTom: this cost me £120 about two years ago - sorry, but I do not consider this to be value for money or a fair way of treating clients.

It's great and the 5" screen makes a big difference
Replaced one that was stolen. It's great and the 5" screen makes a big difference. Lifetime maps (updated 4 times a year) thrown in so very good value. (If you want a good case I recommend the Rheme Premium Universal as it will also hold an in-car charger).

Five stars?
Maybe this is a five star product, but the touch screen is infuriating unresponsive and slow. However, once set, it works really well and my stress subsides.

In the main I consider it to be reliable and good value for money
I have been using this more or less daily for over a year now. The only issue I have is that in some of the more remote areas of mid Wales it imagines roads that are not there. Even the updates have not corrected this. In the main I consider it to be reliable and good value for money.

Full marks Tomtom
I bought this version because I only wanted Uk maps and have to say I am very happy with it after a short period of adjustment to the new interface. The lane guidance is a welcome upgrade and I like the way it automatically clears the route when you arrive.

Not bad!
Big screen and the advance lane guidance is good, but the rerouting is a nightmare, it takes a minutes for you to wait the next exit, junction or crossing etc. Very frustrating sometimes!
