KingSpec 64GB 2.5 inch PATA/IDE SSD, MLC Flash SM2236 Controller Internal Solid State Disk

Reinvented my old Acer Ferrari 4005!! Boots quick and works great!! Never thought it would be any use again and now used exclusively to do car diagnostics and battery life is better than when brand new!! :-)

I replaced my laptop hard drive with the SSD and installed Lunux Ubuntu. Laptop now runs really well.

This was a really good buy for what i needed it for, the only down side has been the speed of writing to the disk. Reading is great once the data is on, but it can be a little frustrating during a game for instance if it needs to write data at way points.Startup is great as most of the data is read from the disk - but the microsoft auto update can be very slow due to having to write to the disk a lot, as can installation of large software packages.Overall though - this is a great disk for the price. I used it to re-juvenate an old PC which probably doesn't help. I also wanted to check out the technology, as this was my first solid state disk, pretty impressed with the read speed and power consumption side - the old mechanical disk ran very warm in this PC, but this stays pretty cool, and it is twice the memory of the old disk I replaced.I would certainly look to a Solid State disk in the future, though I may pay more attention to the write speed next time.

A remarkable overall increase in loading speed and shorted boot time. Much value for money.

I had two of these. I tried them both in two computers. I tried imaging them. I tried fresh installs with them. I couldn't make them work no matter what I did. Endless IO errors and other problems. Maybe it was incompatible, but there was no clear reason as to why. On the plus side, the customer service was excellent and the return process straightforward - so the one star relates to the product rather than the seller.

Kingspec 128GB 2.5" IDE SSD is an excellent plug 'n go alternative to a normal HDD.No problems making a bootable clone. Notable sharper response time running apps.
