My first Damascus knife!
Having only purchased cheap knives previously of course this is going to be a step up for me but the price is actually pretty reasonable so I may buy others from the same range. It's certainly sharp when out of the box so I will have to look for an easy-to-use knife sharpener to keep the edge like new. The overall look is beautiful and the presentation box makes it ideal for gifting.More discerning chefs would probably want something fancier but for someone like me who hardly ever cooks, I am very satisfied with this offering.

Chefs Knife
First off this is a Damascus style knife but the steel is Japanese, however I am not an expert so I'm unable to test that for sure so will have to take their word for it.This knife is presented in a nice black box with adequate protection to the blade. It is pre-sharpened right out of the box but I did go ahead and sharpen it myself with a whetstone and it came out beautifully.I have no issue with how it holds, I personally think it's quite comfortable and I'm able to cut my vegetables really thin and it does a good job on the meat. I think overall it's a very solid knife for the price range. It would also make a solid gift for any amateur chef.I think at £41.99 the price is fairly reasonable. It's a good quality knife, not the best I've used but I don't have any problems with it at all.

Mehhh knife
This is a typical generic Chinese steel kitchen knife. They’re ALL OVER Amazon right now for some reason.Quality of finish is not great to be honest. The blade is fine, it’s sharp and full tang. The “Damascus” steel is actually just applied as scales either side of a plain stainless core. The marketing on this lists the steel differently in different places, main description claims it is Japanese VG10, but further marketing materials claim it to be 10Cr15MoV. They’re interchangeable really but the latter is a Chinese steel and I am 100% certain that is what is used in this knife as opposed to more expensive Japanese steel. The steel used is still a decent knife steel, particularly for a Chef’s knife. It will hold an edge well and will be resistant to corrosion. The Damascus scales are very subdued. It doesn’t look anything like the product photos, actually the patination is barely visible. If you’re going to go to the effort of creating a composite blade like this then I would have thought that they would have processed the steel in a way that made the effect pronounced/dramatic. As it is, it has little cosmetic impact, and being that it’s just two scales applied to a standard steel core, it has no functional impact.I really do not like the handle. It uses acrylic pieces which I don’t mind but the wood used is not well finished, actually it seems unfinished, particularly at the top of the handle. I can’t comment on the durability as of yet, as I have only just started using it.As a Chef’s knife, it functions fine. It’s well proportioned and sharp out of the box. The real tests will come through use, how easy will it be to re-sharpen? How will the handle hold up to moisture? You can get so much for your money now with these Chinese knives that I find this one to be a little underwhelming at its current price of £42. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with it though and provided it holds up over time I might come back to upgrade this review to four stars.

Good knife, the handle is not perfect for my hands.
This is a good knife and it looks great too. It is presented in a box which would work perfectly fine as a gift. The wrapping label has space for gift hand written words, see my PHOTOS. The knife itself looks good, it is very sharp and after the first few uses it still feels great. The handle with the acrylic inserts looks nice too. But it is the handle which makes me detract one star. I have large hands and I prefer bigger handles which are not straight, this handle is a bit too straight for me. Overall this is a good knife.

This kife did not feel right in my handd.
The 'BILLION DUO Damascus Chef’s Knife, 67 Layer Damascus Steel, 20.5 cm Sharp Blade, Kitchen Knives with Ergonomic Handle' arrived in a shrink wrapped box that also contained a user manual.First I feel I must clarify that this knife is made in China. The user manual only has a few lines in English about knife care, in fact much of the manual relates to pictures of knives in other ranges, though as best as I could tell the range this knife belongs to was not present. This knife did not feel 'comfortable' in my large hand and feels rather light, this may be due to a thinner blade spine than I am used to and the plastic strips in the handle.I did my normal paper test with this knife and found the knife cut, but it did not seem as sharp as others I use so will need to undergo sharpening. The patterning on the blade does not seem natural and may have been etched.Overall in my opinion this knife could have been much sharper and it would have been nice to see a full length blade guard fitted rather than a pip guard.Although this knife did not suite me, it may be better for those with smaller hands, or those that prefer a lighter blade.

OK knife with some disappointing quality issues
As far as knives go, this is an attractive knife with its solid blade and comfortable handle. On the blade itself there is some patterns which look nice, however these are only visible in certain light angles and certainly not as prominent as the official images try to portray. As attractive as it is, the cutting sharpness is just OK and only as good as knives I’ve tested for half what the RRP is. I also would have expected premium quality for its price range, whereas you can see in my image there is noticeable rust which I wouldn’t expect from even a basic knife.Overall, this is a decent knife, but not one that I believe justifies its value in any area.

Scharf, scharf, scharf
Also bitte Vorsicht im Umgang!

Very nice Chef's Knife that is quite Sharp!
This Chef's Knife is quite stylish, very sharp and impressively packaged.Delivered in a very nice box (with velvet lining and a magnetic clasp even!), the knife has quite a unique look to it.Unlike the new trend of laser engraving the Damascus Steel pattern onto the blade, this knife has the real thing. The Acrylic layered handle may not be to everyone's taste, but it sure does add a bit of interesting flare to what is usually a simple kitchen tool.In hand, the knife feels weighty, without being heavy, and is quite well balanced. The blade is very sharp from the factory, and has none of the small flattened spots that is so common on inexpensive knives. The edge seems to be holding well for me, and a quick zip over a sharpener every few weeks can keep it razor sharp for quite some time. While a bit more expensive than some other Chef's Knives, while still being quite a bit less expensive than other high-end ones, it looks and feels like it is well worth the small premium. If you are looking for a gift for your favorite kitchen dweller, or just want to level up your own kitchen a bit, a good knife like this is a great place to start 👍
