what a singer this is one of my favourite ever music sit and drift away while listening to it

This is by far my favourite Andy Williams collection. It uses classical melodies from Beethoven, Katchaturian, Saint-Saens and others to which words have been added. We have all heard some very obvious classical melodies used as popular songs. This anthology, somehow, does not fall into that genre: they have original words and use many less hackneyed tunes. Even where very familar melodies are used they are given a different treatment. Everyone knows the final movement of Beethoven Ninth symphony, but listen to these lyrics entitled "Words" and hear Andy Williams soar to the climax and you will realize here is a genuine musician at work - or should I say I host of musicians. The backing of the Royal Philaharmic Orchestra is never "pop", but never overpowering. Altogether an artistic acclomplishment!

Have listened to Andy Williams for over 50 years . In my opinion one of the finest singers their has ever been .

The original CD similar to this one had the lyrics printed in the pamphlet inside the CD case. not so with this one, very disappointing and expensive.

Since buying my copy many friends have heard it and are extremely pleased with it also that they require me to order copies for themselves. Andy Williams at his best singing with words to accompany classical tunes of such as Beethoven, Delius, Rachmaninov etc etc. Used article as good as the new albums being on CD so no need to buy at exorbitant prices.

I originally bought this as a LP record when it first came out and hadn't been able to play it since as I've not got a turntable anymore. So, I looked this up on Amazon not expecting to get any joy and when I found it was on cd I sent for it immediately. Truly wonderful songs produced and sung well. I simply love it!

I am not a great fan of Andy Williams but I used to have this on cassette and the theme of words put to classic music has worked in this case, (it does not always). Still good listening and will be good when travelling.

gorgeous cd. delight to listen to as background music or turned up when i am on my own. would recommend any AW fan who dosnt own it to add it to their collection at some point.
