Kicking HorseCoffee, Three Sisters, Medium Roast, Whole Bean, 10 oz

Excellent flavor, no bitterness, smooth drinking coffee. I am not a coffee drinker but after watching information about the difference in taste when grinding your own beans introduced me to this find on Amazon. It really transformed my view on drinking coffee. These beans when ground had a smooth flavor and no hint of bitterness. I can see myself becoming a morning coffee drinker now.

Kicking Horse is fine coffee. I loved this Three Sisters blend so much when I first got some, so I bought it again. Over time however it began to not seem as tasty anymore. I was just getting over the novelty and tired of it I think. Not that it changed or anything but I moved on to Kicking Horse Lucky Jim. Now that is some real fine Joe. (Laughter permissable.)

I love this coffee! It is smooth and delicious. I wanted ground beans but couldn't find them, so I ended up with whole beans, which is just a bit more of a hassle. Nevertheless worth it for this coffee. Delivery was swift.

To begin, Im NOT a paid reviewer of any kind. Just a regular dude trying to be helpful as I rely on reviews alot myself.This coffee is a bit too dark and bitter for me. I grind myself and make espressos daily for decades now. These tasted fresh enough, but not like direct from roastery fresh. Overall, the espresso I made from this Dark Horse lacked density and tasted too bitter. My go-to in a pinch shall remain Lavazza or Illy I suppose.

I actually ordered this as an afterthought, since is was one of the products which was recommended after I added Valhalla Java Ground Coffee by Death Wish Coffee Company, USDA Certified Organic & Fair Trade (12 Ounce Bag) to my cart. I've been on a bit of a dark roast kick and wanted something to switch it up.Now - what I don't think Amazon is great at is telling you this isn't actually a medium roast. This is a blend of dark, medium, and light roasts. It was a surprise, but not an unpleasant one. It smelled amazing as soon as the bag opened. The beans are clearly roasted differently, which is off-putting if you are expecting medium and end up with a medley.Grinding - well, I have a little Kitchen-Aid electric grinder and, while they don't look as oily as some other beans I've ground, they are super oily and getting the grounds out and then cleaning the grinder would be extremely bothersome if I didn't absolutely love the flavor.It's bitter and doesn't have a whole lot of the sophisticated flavors I hear true snobs prattle on about. It does have a slight burnt taste, but with way less of a punch you in the face effect than Starbucks house blend has. I don't think this would be my preferred coffee if I had to drink it black, but it blends really, really well with a touch of vanilla or sweet cream flavored creamer.
