Thunderbird Vector Butane Double Torch Insert

This is a tight heavy built and crafted item! I like the substantial material

It fits a Zippo case with a little help but the butane bleeds out of it. Tried to use the usual methods for repair/replace and hit a brick wall.

I absolutely love this insert and it’s my go to for any lighter I have. The button action is firm but easy, no finicky actions like many lighters have if you struggle with that. Flame is strong and bright, smaller than a normal bic lighter or a regular Zippo insert, but don’t be fooled, it burns much much hotter. To light a cigarette you don’t even need to hold it in the flame, an inch or so above is more than suitable.I find the flame may not always catch if you just press the button down quickly. If you press it slowly you’ll hear/see gas coming out and the button will meet a little resistance. Follow through the resistance and it’ll always light the spark. Better to do it slightly slowly in two actions rather than one swift action as you want a steady stream of gas for it to light.All in all, no complaints. Very happy.

Good: flame is great. perfect for lighting things.Bad: rod that holds lever popped out. I put a tiny dab of crazy glue on the end and seems ok.Personal opinion: it goes through fuel quick, tank isn't huge. turn adjustment down until just before it stops igniting.

Some info for a potential buyer to consider. I will update once I have carried it for a while.1. Packaging in the item description was different. The one I received said merging double flames. They are angled toward each other. I perfer the look of the merging flames.2. One torch flame was slightly longer which might bother anyone OCD. :-)3. Due to the mechanisms for the dual torches taking up more space you end up with a smaller butane reservoir.4. Upon opening, the insert lifts up ever so slightly. The original Zippo insert has an outdent that prevents this that the Thunderbird does not. This doesn’t affect the operation of the insert & you might never notice it unless you are looking for it. You’re welcome:-)5. This one is a personal preference. My zippp insert was brass but I like the contrast of the silver finish of the thunderbird insert against my Armor Tumble brass Zippo.

It arrived early, which is nice. WOULD NOT WORK!!! Bought the over priced "Vector" butane it said use, filled it following all instructions. It refuses to light. Can see it spark...can hear the fuel escape when igniter pressed down...followed all instructions...P.O.S. will not light. So now I'm out the money for the insert as well as this expensive can of butane fuel. ZERO STARS

this Vector insert is a perfect drop in replacement for the classic Zippo lighters. The dual gas jets fire up a nice cigar in seconds! Very sturdy and does not leak fuel like the standard Zippo inserts.
