It takes sometime to understand the instructions. More pictures would have been niceUnfortunately this is way too big for my ten gallon tank. I placed this one inch from the bottom of my tank and as you can see it extends beyond the water level and above the tankI guess I need to return this one

We have four tanks, so it's always a good idea to have extra necessities on hand in case something stops working. When does something stop working? Inevitably on a Sunday night and all the stores are closed. So I keep a stash.

Works well, durable and easy to put in. Noise level is quite you can barely hear it.

I have and use many different filters for my tanks - skimmers, HOB, sponge, cannisters, etc. unfortunately, this one does not work. The concept is fine, and there are several out there of a similar design that work fine. I tried staging the assembly to figure out where the flaw is. The pump, by itself, seems to work fine and has a decent amount of flow. Adding the pump to the intake housing still has a good amount of flow with the bottom cover on.As soon as he outlet chamber is attached, the flow drops to almost nothing. I am uncertain if it is due leakage in the chamber, or resistance due to correcting, but it does not move any water worth mention once assembled. You can see from the photos, it is seriously lacking. I had hoped with the lily head, that there would have been a good amount of flow, but I was mistaken.I am glad I assembled this in a test bucket before installing on an actual tank. I would have been furious if I had everything ready to go, then found out the filter was bad.Stay as far away from this filter as possible. To not be tempted by the low price point. I guess I will, at least, be able to use the media and possibly the pump for circulating pre-change water. Save your $ and look for other options.

This filter worked for ten minutes, blew nice air bubbles and then it just stopped. I will be returning it immediately. Such a waste of time, luckily I am setting up a new tank otherwise I’d be extremely pissed.

The media could not be loaded. I'm going to come back and give an update. I just hooked it up. The directions were terrible.I bought it because my main filter had went out.. it was a back up...so far its working..it's not to powerful...so we will see.

The media could not be loaded. Update: After less than a week, the replacement filter I was sent has stopped moving any water. My aquarium is clean and well filtered besides this filter. The filter does not look dirty or clogged. Even if it was, if it happened this soon it is not worth having. There is either a design flaw or manufacturing defect. Don't bother with this filter - there are many, many better options available.Update 2: I have now removed this filter and thrown it away.Original review:This is a pretty good filter. It has a built-in pump, so you just need to plug it in. It is fairly easy to assemble and install, though the instructions do get two of the parts wrong. You need to connect the hose to the connector at the outlet (be sure to put the piece with the hose barb in line at the outlet), and then connect the valve to the other end of the hose. This is not shown in the instructions.The listing makes it look like this filter injects a lot of air bubbles into the output, but it doesn't. Even when assembled correctly and the valve opened, there really aren't many bubbles. That's OK though. I like the filtering capacity. The sponges will mechanically filter, and build bacteria for some biofiltration. There are also two different biofilter chambers with different media for bacteria to attach to. This is a good setup.I would recommend this as a secondary filter in a tank where you have a HoB or canister filter as a primary. This is a nice addition of filter capacity.It's not super easy to clean. The main cleaning needed will be to clean out the sponge filters periodically (in aquarium water so you don;t kill remaining bacteria). To do this, you need to remove the piece from the top, and pull them off without opening the compartments beneath them.The first filter I received had very little flow rate, so be sure to check that. I contacted support. After a couple days of troubleshooting, they exchanged my filter with one that works well. I was happy with the service provided. See my pictures and video to get an idea of what the correct flow rate should be.

So far I think this is working fairly well. It was a little cumbersome to put together and the manual wasn't as helpful as it could've been. Looking at the pictures on the Amazon page helped.I like the idea behind this system the ceramic balls and the K1 fluid bed things and everything seems to be working correctly. It's also really quiet, which I like.All in all, I have no complaints thus far other then I found it to be a little clunky to get everything initially set up.
