I am new to espresso. This tamper is excellent. It is easy to use. It has great quality. Comfy in hand, great weight to it, and its easy to change the springs (30lbs is perfect though). It has definitely improved my espresso shots. Would definitely buy again!

So I’m new to coffee machines and recently bought myself a barista. I didn’t like the tamper that came along with that, it was more on the lighter side and you needed to press really hard. Ordered this and it’s changed everything, it’s easy to use and overall improved the coffee taste. The quality is great, it’s sturdy and built well. The fit is perfect and can’t complain about the design. It does exactly what it’s functioned to do. Overall happy with this product and happy I bought it.

I've been using the Normcore spring-loaded tamper for a while, and it performs well overall. Initially, I assumed the MHW-3Bomber tamper would be similar since it's also spring-loaded, but once I got my hands on one, the difference was obvious. With the 3Bomber, you hardly need to apply any force to achieve the 30 lbs of pressure, whereas with the Normcore, you have to press down a bit harder. This sometimes causes the Normcore to shift sideways as I tamp. However, with the 3Bomber, I haven't had that issue—it practically does the work for you with minimal effort. With that said, if you're deciding between the two, I would highly recommend the 3Bomber—hands down.

Nicely made and functional. It clicks at the preset pressure, leaves a nice imprint.It came in a beat up / thorn box inside an envelope 🤷‍♂️ Did not effect the tamper, though. It works great.

When opening the package, there was an extra spring labeled 15 pound. The manual does not indicate what the default pressure that is preinstalled, but the item description says 30 pound. The manual also says not to disassemble. So, I disassembled it anyway. There are 3 springs. The first two easily are removed after unscrewing the handle from the base. The third spring (which determines the pressure) is located within the exposed mechanism and held in place by a small cylindrical rod. Depressing the mechanism will release the tension on the rod and it will quickly fall out. Be careful not to lose it. You can then exchange the third spring for the 15 pound if desired and reassemble by lining up the holes by depressing the mechanism and then release to re-establish tension on the rod. Since this tamper is new to me, I am going to try out the default spring first.

I can't speak more highly of this MHW-3Bomber Tamper. It offers essentially the same functionality as the much more expensive Force Tamper (which costs 4x as much) in a reasonably priced and beautiful package. Here's what I love:1. It's self-leveling on your filter basket so you'll always tamp evenly.2. It's calibrated for 30 lbs of force, but you don't feel that you have to exert that much pressure, because the spring loaded mechanism will apply the force easily and then "snap."3. It has a lovely circular ridge pattern, which may perhaps help with distribution and extraction. Even if it doesn't I love looking at it.4. Aesthetically, it is beautiful in black with maple accents. It matches my coffee bar very well.5. In terms of functionality, I found the combination of this tamper with the IKAPE Mantis for distribution produced excellent shots using Urth Caffe fresh beans with no channeling or problems whatsoever.If you are looking for a fantastic tamper, I highly recommend this one.

Bin von diesem Tamper positiv überrascht. Wollte mir eigentlich einen "manuellen" kaufen, da ich von den Konzepten der sonst auf dem Markt erhältlichen Tampern nicht überzeugt war. Dieser Tamper hingegen liefert mit seinem haptischen und akustischen Feedback durchweg konstante Ergebnisse, was bei Bedienung durch mehrere Personen einen riesigen positiven Aspekt darstellt. Er kommt mit einem beachtlichen Eigengewicht und liegt durch seine Form sehr gut in der Hand, hat eine ausgezeichnete Verarbeitungsqualität, sieht dabei vielleicht nicht so elegant wegen dem zweigeteilten Griff aus (eine durchgehende Holzoptik wäre schöner gewesen), was jedoch selbstverständlich keine Auswirkung auf die Funktionalität hat.Durch die Auflagefläche am Siebträgerrand und den absolut perfekten Durchmesser für 54mm erzeugt der Tamper eine spiegelglatte Oberfläche. Endlich bleibt kein Kaffeemehl mehr am Rand, der ideal gepresste Kaffeepuck sorgt für gleichmäßigere Ergebnisse und den Wegfall unschöner Rückstände.Einziger Nachteil in meinen Augen, der jedoch nicht zur Abwertung führt: ich hätte mir statt der 15lbs Ersatzfeder eine mit 20lbs oder eine weitere mit 30lbs gewünscht. Da die knappen 7kg in meinen Augen doch zu wenig sind und die Feder mir dadurch eher sinnlos erscheint.Nun möchte ich nur noch von der Langlebigkeit dieses Tampers überzeugt werden, welche den stolzen, aber vermutlich verdienten, Preis rechtfertigen würde. Bei der hier vorliegende Version 2.0 sollten wohl die anfänglichen Probleme mit den Defekten ausgebessert worden sein.

Real 58.35 mm, comes with extra lower resistance(15 lbs) spring. There is no description in user guide how to change a stock one (30 lbs) but it is intuitive. Unscrew the handle, remove it, also remove 2 internal springs. Take a small screwdriver or something pointy and push small metal min in between. After that you will be able to get to the one you need to replace. If you go with 15 lbs - do couple of tamps back to back.
