'm pleased with the smaller bag size. Knowing that we didn't have an endless supply made these last a bit longer, but not by much. We're fans of the Charleston Chew, but this took it up a notch. It was competitively priced, if not less than others!

While I liked these, I feel like it’s now a totally different candy from Charleston chews. Freeze drying these makes them feel like styrofoam that melts in your mouth. That may be a bad comparison because styrofoam in a food context usually has a negative connotation. That isn’t really the case here it’s just the most accurate way I can describe them. These certainly don’t taste like styrofoam. They are sweet, with a hint of both vanilla and chocolate flavors. The chocolate that normally coats a Charleston chew doesn’t fare well though. You can tell from the picture the entire piece is no longer enrobed in chocolate. You still taste chocolate but not as forward as in the original. I think I am coming across more negatively than I want to … My first words after eating a few was I wish the bag was bigger. Overall, I think if you are expecting a Charleston chew when you eat this you may be surprised but if you go in with an open mind I think you’ll really like these.

I like these and they do mostly contain the distinctive and classic flavor of Charleston Chew candies; although there's no mention of that brand on the package, it seems like a close flavor match. There's a nougat flavor and these are rather light on chocolate taste so if it's chocolate you crave this may or may not be quite to your satisfaction. They are quite indulgent candies, very sugary; reading the nutrition label closely, a "serving" is 13 candies and that yields 34% of your DVA sugar intake. Best to enjoy these one at a time and not too many per day. The freeze drying process eliminates the chewiness aspect you'd find in this candy's non-freeze-dried counterpart; that's a plus for me, as I avoid any candy which might pull out my 40+ year fillings. All things considered, I like them. I am new to freeze dried candies and have just started noticing them at my local grocery. They're always a bit on the expensive side no matter where you buy them. I'm not sure I'll repurchase these but I'll enjoy this bag for sure.

It's no longer chewy, the chocolate is no longer rich and melty, and the smooth marshmallow taste is gone. I'm not a fan. As far as freeze dried candy goes it arrived whole not smashed into bits which is good, it melts in your mouth and has a good flavor.

I wanted Premium Freeze Dried Charleston Chew because charleston chew is delicious but I've never had it freeze dried. The candy was nice and crunchy and tasted exactly like charleston chew. It was a huge hit in my household.

My sister loved them. They were gone within the hour.

I've tried other freeze dried candies in the past, but this is the first time trying a dried Charleston Chew. The freeze drying process makes these light and airy, yet they still retain a slightly chewy texture with a nice hint of chocolate. I liked that they explained the whole freeze drying process in the Amazon description, and I guess that is why freeze dried candies tend to be on the expensive side since the process seems to be rather labor intensive and time consuming. With that being said, the cost of these is what makes me less inclined to purchase these on a regular basis, and the reason why I deducted 1 star.

These freeze dried Charleston chews are some of my favorite freeze dried candies. They're nice and crunchy, sweet and complex, they melt in your mouth, and the chocolate is a welcome addition. I will definitely be getting more of them.
