Very Disappointed
I dont have any complaints about Amazon or the seller, it arrived on time and in in good condition. But the flashlight itself was a big disappointment. I did several internet searches for the "Brightest" shake-light on the market. The Nightstar 3 came highly recommended in several searches. But when I got the light it was very dim. I bought a cheap shakelight off the counter of a local hardware store a few years ago for about $6, and that one is two to three times brighter than the Nightstar 3. I wish my cheap one had a name on it so I could recommend it, but it only has a Patent number on it.

Good idea...not practical
I was hoping that this flashlight would serve as a lightweight alternative to my heavy mag-light that I carry around on fishing and hiking trips. While the plastic case ought to make this so, the heavy (and strong) magnet tends to offset some of the weight savings, making this simply a bulky, and low powered flashlight. Also, anything metal nearby will become quickly stuck to this flashlight as the magnet is VERY strong. This is kind of a pain if you plan on storing it in a toolbox or tackle-box.On the up side, this is a functioning flashlight, that does not require batteries. After about 30 seconds of shaking, it charges up enough to power the small LED for a decent length of time. Its a neat toy and a good science experiment, but not a practical flashlight as it is simply too dim.

Best battery-free flashlight
After have owning a Forever Light and the Nightstar for 6 months I can say the Nightstar is better in every way. In pitch black nights the Nightstar light is useable for the full 20 minutes, but in low light (like at dusk or at dawn) the Nightstar gives a good bright light for the first 10 minutes and then slowly fades out. That is still 5 minutes longer than the Forever Light which is not as bright. If you need a good walking light and hate having to mess with batteries than you really need to try this light.

Not quite what I was expecting
I bought this flash light for emergencies. My husband is a flashlight geek and he was disappointed in the light beam, but what is good about it, is that it does not need batteries. As long as you are up for shaking, this will work. You don't have to shake much to get light and the beam is said to last 20 minutes, but I haven't tried that yet. I am happy with it, because I don't need batteries and because in an emergency I know I will be glad to have something rather than nothing.

real, works, dim, bulky
brighter than other manual flashlights but weaker than battery ones, capacitor has a long life and no apparent defects(rechargeable batteries I purchased around the same time has already started leaking acid after repeated use but this one's capacitor is still ticking away)beware of similar fake products where they place an irreplaceable battery in there instead of a capacitor

Great Flashlight
I've had my Nightstar for many years now and its still going strong. I take it jogging when its dark out and it lights up my path when I want to walk. Is it a Floodlight? No. Does is shine for half a mile? No. But it Never needs batteries, its built to last and just plain cool!!! Highly recommended.
