I've not seen these before so was intrigued as I never seem to have a lime handy when I need one. They come in a resealable recyclable plastic pouch, but the best before date is only 3 months away on mine! They're quite crispy and if you nibble one it tastes like - lime. I put one in a glass of sparkling water to see if it would reconstitute at all - It didn't quickly, but it did impart a slight lime flavour to the water. The fleshy part does start to rehydrate first, whilst the skin stays crispy. The hydrated parts feel a bit more flavoursome. I expected the dried version to have an intensified flavour, but I didn't really think that was the case. It's a nice idea, but I'm not totally sure how effective they are as it seems to need quite a while to rehydrate and my gin and tonics don't stay in the glass that long! It is a nice novelty decoration though, but the colour of the dried fruit is more brown rather than the intense green of a fresh lime. When my wife saw the mostly nibbled bit in my glass of water, she thought a moth had landed in it! I can see they'd possibly add a nice visual touch to a cocktail. I don't eat fish so I can't comment on the recommended suitability with that! At the moment I'm a bit on the fence with them and I need to try them in more drinks to see how they work. Hopefully the short best before date on mine isn't typical.

Because these are dried, it means you can't just give it a squeeze and get an instant hit of lime, but. . . leave it for a 2-3 minutes to infuse, and it's great - I've used it in hot drinks and cold sparkling water, and has worked with everything - just leave it to infuse for long enough.
