Every camper needs a good surge protector
I saw a camper burn after being hit by lightening last summer, and then immediately afterward, my daughter bought a brand new camper, hooked it up to the power at her house, and lightening killed her compressor, TV, and air conditioner the very first week she owned it. Thankfully it did not burn it down. If she had had a surge protector, it would have saved her a ton of money. The price of this one was comparatively low compared to others who carry this same surge protector. Every camper should have one. My biggest fear in a camper is a fire, and we've seen some frog-strangler lightening storms while we've been camping. It's a low cost for a lot of protection. Don't got to bed in a camper without one!!

No more loss of electronics
We do a lot of RVing in a motor home, and have been told by many people to be careful and that some campgrounds and RV parks have not upgraded their electrical hook up boxes. In fact, I've worked in a few campgrounds, and have personally had to repair 50 AMP and 30 AMP boxes that were corroded and rusty. It wasn't until we had an electrical storm that we lost the controller to our furnace due to lightning. The repair was over $300! So, after the repair, we purchased this Surge Guard and its been faithful to us.Last year we were in an Oklahoma state park campground for the summer, and a few of our neighbors had lost their electronic boards due to electrical storms. One guy repaired his rig and didn't bother to buy a surge protector even after I suggested it, and he got hit again and lost the second board. Its not just for electrical spikes, but also for low voltage which can do more harm sometimes than high voltage. Low voltage can happen with poor connections or just the cycling process in the land based generator.Protect your RV before you end up having to pay for a repair and then being wise and buying a surge protector. Trust me, I know!

Awesome product
I have heard horror stories of bad power at campgrounds. Bad grounds, etc. Got this for piece of mind, used it at three campgrounds and no issues,.Didn't like the optional security box as it is made of plastic. So we constructed our own security attachment. Went to Ace Hardware, bought 4' of cable and applied three cable ties. Made a small loop in the middle of the cable and crushed the metal tie. Then made one small loop between the plug and box and crushed a cable tie. Repeat at other plug. Then we got some heavy duty chain link and a Master lock so we can thread the loop and wrap around the base of the power box at the RV site.

**Updated review**
Previous review: This is the second one of these that we have purchased. We bought the first one from Camping World, and after a little over a year it had a malfunction in the prongs where one of the prongs literally melted into where we plugged it into, so we ordered another one, thinking maybe it was the camping pedestal we had plugged into that was bad and caused the problem. We've had this one we ordered on Amazon, through Tweety's Storefront, and it has quit working in less than nine months. We will not be giving this product another chance.**UPDATE: Contacted Tweety's. They said it was no longer their problem, to call TRC. We called TRC, and they immediately sent us a brand-new, newer model after we paid to mail them the defective device. We have not had a chance to use the new one, but we are very impressed with the responsiveness of TRC and their willingness to stand behind their warranty.

Saved The Camper
The first two times I used thr surge guard it determined that there was a problem with the power and the camp ground had to replace the outlet at the post. Other times the surge guard showed how much the voltage varies from what it should be. If nothing else, I have a better piece of mind knowing that I have the surge guard just in case. The reason I got the unit in the first place was because of the first hand stories I had heard from others who had electrical problems within their camper because of power surges in the campground. Most of the campground today are old and they have not maintained their power supply as with many other things. The only complaint I have is that it is bulky and that the LCD screen is too small. I have to get on my hands and knees to read the output. Bottom line is that if you are going to pay big bucks for a camper and want to have all the electrical convienences that come with it, protect your investment with a surge guard.

Step away from this product had it for less than 6 months and it failed. Reading other reviews show sane item failing far short of warranty period. Found out that this model is discontinued with no replacement model available. Avoid this product and save your money.

Think twice before you buy
Purchased for my motorhome in 2010 and it lasted for 9 months. I then had it repaired under warranty after which it lasted for about ten months. It is now out of warranty. If the unit was less money Or had a longer warranty, i might recommend it. However, I replaced with an rv surge protector (from amazon) that protects against surges and monitors line integrity. I bought an inexpensive plug in volt meter to monitor voltage levels. It cost 1/3 the price.
