Great Backup Drive – Samsung Never Disappoints!
This Samsung external drive is exactly what you’d expect from the brand – reliable, fast, and built to last. It’s been a perfect solution for my backup needs, offering plenty of storage space and consistent performance. The compact design makes it easy to carry around, yet it feels sturdy enough to handle daily use. Pros: ✔ Trusted Samsung quality ✔ Fast data transfer speeds ✔ Compact and portable ✔ Plug-and-play simplicity ✔ Great value for the storage capacity Cons: ✖ Basic design (no fancy extras, but that’s not why you buy it) Verdict: When it comes to storage, Samsung rarely misses – and this drive is no exception. Whether for work, photos, or system backups, it’s a dependable choice that won’t let you down.

Fast, compact and reliable for photo backup
I use this mainly for backing up photos and video from shoots and it's been fantastic. Transfer speeds are noticeably quick, especially over USB 3.2. Copying a batch of RAW files from my camera cards takes a fraction of the time compared to my old portable HDD. The 2TB capacity is more than enough for what I need and the physical size of it is impressively small, fits easily in my camera bag. The indigo blue colour looks smart too which is a nice touch. Build quality feels solid despite being so lightweight and it's survived being thrown around in bags without any issues so far. I use it alongside my Synology NAS for offsite backup and it's perfect for that workflow. Only thing I'd say is the included USB C cable is quite short so you might want a longer one depending on your setup.

Fantastic SSD from SAMSUNG
Didn't encounter any issues except I had to reformat the SSD to GUID before convert it to APFS system. Speed was impressive but the size is a bit of a letdown after using Micron Crucial SSD, a bit heavier too.

Great product fair price
I love this thing, tiny, lovely looking ( I have the red one and yes I know looks don't matter with this type of product but it just looks great!). Normally I have an NVME drive in a separate USB 3 or TB enclosure and run it through TB as I have a Macstudio, but I also have Windows laptops that don't have superspeed connections that I use the drives with so I thought this time I would give one of these a go. I also bought the little groovy case for protection. It's still super small (did I mention that?) so not much more to it than one of the USBC NVME enclosures, feels a little sturdier and I get decent speeds. I know that the price of storage has fallen but as of this review on 14th Sept it's £65.99 for the 1 TB, that's madness compared to where we have been before and actually not that far removed from the price of making one yourself. Ok, so the downside compared to making one yourself is it seems to be so well made you can't swap it out for another drive yourself. There may be a way but it doesn't seem obvious to me, but that is the only downside. I imagine that's for protection because it feels sturdy as heck, and literally fits in the palm of my hand. The question is if I had the same need would I buy one again or do as I usually do and put one together myself? Well unless you have TB speeds or 3.2x2 where you would feel the benefit from making a faster drive this would do you more than fine. It reached the advertised speeds, is super sturdy, super small, lovely looking and tactile with a marginal price difference between it and making one yourself with the same speed. So, unless you need to swap out the disks then go for it, If you do then think for a minute and decide if the many plus points outweigh the need. I have no regrets about buying this but then it is for a particular use case.

excellent
it’s been excellent. Transfer speeds are really fast thanks to USB 3.2 Gen 2, and handling large files or backups feels effortless. The titanium grey finish looks sleek and premium, and the build feels tough enough to toss in a bag. It stays cool during heavy transfers, and compatibility with multiple devices is great. Overall, a super reliable, high‑speed portable SSD that’s become a core part of my workflow.

Fantastic upgrade from my HDD but potential packaging flaw
So I have an external HDD for my laptop that has failed a couple of times now. I'm getting fed up of running Dsk chk as it's a 4TB drive and takes about 3 days to complete! I decided it was finally time to bite the bullet and get an SSD, as I suspect the damage gets done because the drive gets moved or knocked about. The data on it is mostly games and non-essentials but I'd rather not lose it all. This is a very expensive drive for me to consider buying but I was swayed by the positive reviews, so I was anxious about what I'd get! I must say, I love how small and light it is! It's ideal for me, as I am always moving it about; there are no internal moving parts to knock about and it's so much less clunky than my HDD. This means I've actually been able to pop it into a pouch on the back on my monitor, which really improves mobility and security. I've not had a chance to use it excessively yet and I can't speak to it's longevity but it's nice and speedy. With its compact and light build, it'd be ideal for a range of uses, including for photographers, music in your car or phone backups - anything requiring portability really. The one flaw I have identified so far is not with the drive but with the packaging. The drive is sat loose in a small card tray (also loose) in the top of the inner box, with a cardboard 'lid' over it. This box then sits inside a card sleeve. The issue with this is that when you open the very swish outer box and slide the inner box out of the sleeve, if you aren't holding it the right way up, the cardboard 'lid' flaps open and your very expensive new drive takes a nosedive to the floor - or into edge of the coffee table in my case. This seems pretty stupid to me, however it does mean I can vouch for the drive's advertised impact/fall resistance. In summary, I would recommend this drive but I'd recommend you sit down to unpackage it!

The Samsung T7 Portable SSD is one of the best portable drives for 2025, offering an excellent balance of speed, security, and portability at a competitive price. It’s perfect for content creators, gamers, and professionals on the go, though those needing water resistance or longer warranties might consider alternatives like the SanDisk Extreme Pro or Samsung T7 Shield.

I use this to clone my Mac and PC disks. They have worked without a hitch for what seems like forever. A very good product.
