Acoustic Analysis of Speech 2nd Edition

Excellent condition and I paid a lower price for it too! No complaints here..

I am about half way through reading this book for a course I'm taking. It is pretty good but, if you're like me, you'll definitely need to look up terms that are not explained. The glossary in the book is not super extensive, at 5 1/2 pages. The tone of the writing is also inconsistent: it ranges from chatty to highly technical.The book itself seems very cheaply made ... the (paperback) cover and pages are so thin that it flops around and bends quite easily, and if you highlight in it, your marks may show through to the other side of the page. It's not likely you're buying this book to read for pleasure, neither did I.I find the subject matter interesting, but the presentation is terrible. Required reading for my Acoustics class, I found this book extremely dry - one of the more frustrating aspects though, is the way the book is organized. It seems that the editors haven't spent any time worrying about the readability of this book (for whatever reason.) The author refers to tables that are pages before and after text, leaving the reader constantly flipping back and forth in a chapter to refer to diagrams.

I purchased this for a class and we were pretty underwhelmed to find there were a number or errors throughout the text. Value for value, I don't feel like it is on par with other, better edited books in terms of content, layout, or functionality.

The book is great, especially for my class. The only problem I had was I ordered the book on December 12th and was supposed to receive it by December 20th, but did not get it until January 7th.

The book was incredibly used and I was not pre-warned of this. It is very doubtful I can resell it afterwards.
