Some clarifications and corrections to the other reviews
There is a video for a review claiming these are too loud and not very strong- The not strong enough is the key. These work great in many, not all situations. Perfect for a closet door, but will not work where there is a window that will create air pressure or in any other circumstance when an air current can open the door. While they are completely silent when properly installed in a door not subject to air currents they can be adjusted high to the point where they will click into each other, and this will increase the holding power somewhat, but it will not be silent. The other comment common in these reviews is discussing the fact that you can increase the power by using a flat head screwdriver to raise the magnet higher in the barrel, this is only true where the magnet was left too low in fabrication. If you can see the magnet assembly sticking up out of the housing increasing it’s height won’t change anything. The attached image shows the magnet above the housing, if yours looks like that it’s good.

Very easy install, works perfectly
I installed these to replace a set of worn out rollers for a set of french doors. The entire install was 5 minutes at most. I had one door that hung a bit lower for done reason and the adjustable magnet worked perfect. The only negative is the black paint on the catches scratches right off the first time you close the door. A-

Good product
Very strong magnetic that holds the door in place. Better than the ball and spring latch that came with the door. Installed fast without adjustment. Highly recommend.

Great Idea, easy to install.
I replaced the basement door latch with these magnetic catches; to make it easier to carry items through the door and closing the door behind me. The previous latch caused difficulties, but this solution addressed that issue. Occasionally, the depth of the magnet needs readjustment; I solved this issue with a drop of Nut Lock on the thread to prevent the magnet from turning. Additionally, I had to chisel out an inset for the latch, while the striker plate fit without modification. A ¾ inch chisel is suitable for this task. The product includes two complete sets, screws, and an adjustment wrench. This effectively solved the problem, and even the cat is unable to open the door now.

Equally as loud but smoother open
Bought these to replace our old ones that stuck and were difficult to open. Pros -easy to install -easy to open and close the doors -keeps door closed -cost was appropriate -doesn’t stick Cons -they are SO loud when they engage when you close the door.

They work great!
I finally got around to install them. They do require a certain level of skill and sharp tools. The magnets are strong and they adjust up and down to increase or decrease the resistance. I loved them as they allowed me to set the exact amount of strength. If you are handy with tools these are a great solution.

50/50
One works — the other doesn’t. (The internal magnet is suppose to rise out and rest into the catch — but it only does it on one. The other is apparently stuck inside….) what a pain in the a$$. Lovely quality control; all sarcasm included. I’ll just find something different for this and the 3 other doors I needed them for. Fail.

Works well after adjusting
These are working fine for some french doors we have. The magnets hold the doors fine after I messed around with the installation a bit. Seems much better than the old ball and catch thing we had that drove my wife crazy and never seemed to work right. I'm hoping these continue working well... don't see why anything should change as nothing really moves with it. One big tip - there are 2 ways to adjust how much it sticks out. You can adjust the magnet inside the brass colored cylinder (using a flat head screwdriver), and you can adjust the cylinder inside the black installation plate by turning or screwing it in. It doesn't come with any instructions, and at first, these weren't holding the door at all for me, but it was because I was only adjusting the cylinder in the black plate - the magnet inside was slightly recessed and wasn't touching the frame plate. After adjusting the magnet to stick out with a screwdriver - (the first one I did was very hard to turn but after taking it apart and figuring out how it worked, I was able to get it how I wanted it - the 2nd one turned easily) the magnet started making contact with the frame plate and held the door. These are definitely not silent for me - you can hear in the video. The magnet moves around a little bit in the cylinder and clicks when it connects to the frame plate. And as someone else commented, this means it does scratch the black frame plate. But no biggie for me - the old thing we had was all scratched up too, and was also much noisier - this thing sort of has a satisfying click to it. If you had a light door or cabinet, you might be able to use tape or felt to silence/protect it. But for it to hold the doors for me, the magnet had to make contact with the frame plate and then that friction was what held the door. One slight annoyance- I couldn't adjust the height of the magnet once it's installed. You have to take it back apart to adjust. So it was a little trial and error a few times for me to get it right.

This was a great replacement for the spring-loaded ball catches that wore out. It's not silent. Changing the old ball catches out was easy. The new catches fit perfectly.

The Tonitrui Silent Ball Catch is a great little piece of hardware. It feels solid, the magnet is surprisingly strong, and once fitted, the door closes with a smooth, satisfying click. No rattling, no slamming, just a clean, quiet hold. Installation was straightforward — as long as you’ve got basic DIY skills, it’s a quick job. Everything lined up nicely, and the adjustable design makes it easy to get the perfect fit. If you want a reliable, silent door catch that does exactly what it promises, this one is spot on.
