My daughter has this steamer and blender by Avent that she bought in the UK and she prepares all of her baby food. I have used it also, and it is great. It came with recipe booklet that included a chart telling you the amount of time needed for certain foods, and also a measuring cup that is marked for the correct amount of water for the food item you are preparing. You then pour the water in a reservoir located on the base at the back. No guessing, no setting, just put it on the steam icon and it steams until the water is gone and the food is cooked. Once it is steamed, you invert the container for blending. It is simple and easy to use. The top part comes apart easily for cleaning. You know exactly what is in the food, pure and healthy! I do hope this product will become available on Amazon.

not having US 120V type motor it's a bummer.

I didn't buy the steamer/blender from amazon.com but still thought I should write a review due to the lack of reviews for this product. It is a brilliant concept - steaming and blending in the same appliance. You steam the food in the jar and once the steaming process is finished, all you do is turn the jar upside down and blend!! No need to transfer the food thus reducing the mess!! Also doesn't take up that much space.It is VERY easy to use, that even tech-airheads such as myself, shouldn't have a problem using it.It comes with a very easy to follow instruction manual with a chart with steaming times for the different types of food which takes all the guess work out!! All you do is fill the measuring cup (also supplied) with water to the level that is indicated in the chart for the particular food you are steaming, pour it in the opening to the water tank at the base and switch the appliance to the steaming position. Once the steaming process is done, you invert the jar and set the appliance to the blend position.You also have the option of using as a blender if you have previously cooked the food by any other method.Another great feature is the appliance will NOT work if ALL elements were not fixed properly.Top part is easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.What I didn't like about the appliance is that the opening to the water tank is small so there is no way for sure to know that the water tank is clean. The manufacturer advises after cleaning the appliance, to keep the lid to the water tank open "to prevent bacterial growth." I have read reviews of OTHER products where the consumers cleaned their steamers according to manufacturers guidelines, yet still had problems with growth of MOULD!!This is the MAIN reason why I haven't given the product 5 stars. I think there should be another way of making sure the water tank is clean and dry.Maybe 3 stars is a little harsh but safety of my daughter is most important.There is no indicator that tells you when descaling is necessary. The manufacturers advise to de-scale every 4 weeks but I think that mainly depends on how hard the water in your area is. In my experience, whenever I have to descale any of my appliances, I have to resort to good old fashioned elbow grease!! This is another reason that the small opening to the water tank is HUGE let down for me. If there was easy access to the water tank for cleaning, descaling and drying, this product would get 10 stars from me.You have to wait 10 minutes in order to allow the motor to cool before using the steamer again - not good if you are in hurry.When in the blending position, can't blend for more than 30 seconds at a time which is inconvenient because you can't for example, use the time the food is being blended to clean up. You have to sit there in front of the appliance and count to 30, stop for a few seconds and start counting again (well at least that's what I do!!)I still use it almost on a daily basis but every time I do, I start off by sniffing the opening to the water tank, shining a torch light into it, and looking at the food before blending to see if there are any particles that shouldn't be there (as has happened with other steamers) and so far no problems.I have a friend who has been using this product for a little over a year, and she too hasn't had any problems.Hope this helps.
