Good read
Information is a little dated and not always correct (I work in this industry) but for a general education for a layman it is informative and a good introduction.

Solar PV Panel guide book
Very good book giving the basis of solar panel installations. I used this book to check the various quotations that I recieved from so called experts for a system on my house. After checking the inverter design section I found that one contractor had specified an inverter that wouldn't work and another had undersized the inverter quoted. I also found that there was a great variation in the cost of panel types quoted, with some companies quoting top prices for poor quality chinese panel systems. As a result of using this book I was able to specify my own quality system using top of the range Sharp panels with 2 Sunny boy inverters. This resulted in saving me over £2000 on the system and also, I have not ended up with a cheap and nasty nightmare system sold by a cowboy salesman. This book is invaluable for anybody considering Solar PV panels on their roof.Welldone to Ryan Mayfield for writing this book.

Very informative
Best book to be read by any beginners. the calculations are simple, a touch of physics is included to understand, however it is not exhaustive.

Wasn't upto my expectations.
I would give two stars to the author for putting effort in towards writing and composing this book. But it contains alot of extra information which i didn't find useful. I was looking for a book that has more practical problems examples as well as more visual understanding. Such as use of pictures graphs extra. This book contains alot of text which in some cases makes the reader bore or go to sleep. That is all i want to say about this book. Secondly buy this book if you have already joined a course that provides more practical practice.

Out of date
This book is out of date, the content has last been updated around 2010, despite the later date of publication listed here. Some things have not changed however alot has.It talks about replacing filament lights for efficency but not with leds. The battery reference's are now almost totally redundant, theres no mention of anything new like lifepo4, li-lon or any sort of more advanced connected battery options. If you can pick it up second hand for a few quid maybe it still worth it but otherwise a pass. Finally it is very US focused.
