VERY light smell, if any, then FELL APART within days.
Cute acorn. I liked the organic, "natural" vibe and thought it would complement my outdoorsy vehicle. The acorn is a little bigger than I realized - my fault. I thought it would be like so many of the little decorations you see hanging on a necklace - about the size of your thumb. Instead, closer to the size of a golf ball. Draws the eyes to the center of the window hanging beneath the rearview mirror. For some that may be a plus. There are two problems with the design, however, and that's why I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere. One is that there is no "wick" unless you COMPLETELY fill the bottle until the oil touches the bottom of the cork stopper. Then, maybe the oil will wick up through the porous cork and keep the oil exposed to the air in your vehicle. But even then, once the oil goes down at all, it will not touch the cork stopper anymore, the wicking action will cease, and the oil will stay tucked away in a bottle = no aroma. I have had this for a few days and even after "wetting" the stopper by inverting the bottle, the smell was unnoticeable. And I have a clean vehicle - there are no smells to compete with this. I didn't get it to "cover up" any strong odors, I just got it to see if I would like some of the oil aromas. I think the solution would have to be a wick that runs from the bottom of the bottle up through the stopper. That would draw the oil up and through the stopper. But even then, without a fan blowing across it or a heater below it, there's no reason why the oil would diffuse into the air and thus that's why you see all the negative reviews saying they didn't smell a thing. I have other oil diffusers in the house and they work fine. One uses heat to make the oil rise into the air currents where it can move around the room. And another is just a bottle with some sticks poking up out of it which serve as wicks, drawing the oil up through the sticks and exposing the oil (over a lot of surface area) to the air. This acorn does neither so I'm not sure why they thought it would work. The second design problem is that the only thing holding the upper part of the acorn to the lower part is some glue. I followed the instructions, put some oil in the bottle, inverted it to wet the stopper and screwed the lower part into the lid. Then I hung it from my rearview mirrow. Within days of normal, light commuting to work, the lower part suddenly dropped from the acorn while I was making a sharp turn into the work parking lot. The lower part, containing the bottle of oil, hit my pant leg, spilling oil onto my work clothes and settled horizontally on the floor of my car, spilling more oil into the carpeting. Now my car and my dress clothes smelled VERY STRONGLY of some spiced herbs or something and I had to return home to change. When I investigated I found that there is a metal, threaded ring inside the acorn lid that came loose. The slightly smaller metal ring in the lid of the bottom half of the acorn is supposed to screw into the metal ring in the upper part of the acorn. Well, it did, just fine. But now that it fell out I can see that the only thing holding the metal ring to the upper part of the acorn was some glue. And apparently, low quality glue, or poorly applied glue. The upper metal ring did its job and held tightly to the bottom metal ring ... all the way to my pant leg and the floor. It did NOT, however, hold tightly to the acorn's lid, still hanging from my rearview mirror. The glue gave away and it simply slid straight down and out.Now for this cute little $13 acorn, I have to launder my suit pants, shampoo my car's floorboard, and miss 2 hours of work. Great purchase.EDIT: I was offered a replacement by the seller but I declined - why would I trust it not to fall again? Probably in my lap this time. It's not a defective unit - it's the design or the manufacturing process (quality control). Until that was altered I would assume any new one they sent it just going to fall apart as well, sooner or later. The design should've included screwing the metal ring itself into the wood of the upper acorn (lid) WITH some glue as well. Some industrial strength glue, apparently. Or perhaps the metal ring in the upper acorn lid could've included some sort of metal teeth that, during assembly, were bent into place, hooking into the wood permanently. Then it wouldn't have fallen apart unless the acorn itself broke. But as it is, it's just a metal ring tapped into the hole in the lid where some glue has been squirted. If the glue isn't strong, or enough glue isn't used, the ring won't hold. ESPECIALLY if the instructions say to screw the lower portion "TIGHTLY" into the top. That, in itself, means users will be apply torque to the metal ring that's only held in place by some glue. Obviously, torque on it enough times and the glue will give. For me it failed after only screwing it on twice. For you it may last longer. Don't count on it.The seller then offered and delivered a refund and actually sent pictures of some changes they're thinking about making to address the issues I stated. Good seller, poor product (until it gets re-designed).

Bought for a necklace
I bought this with intentions to wear as a charm on a necklace. I put essential oil in it saturated the felt pad and closed the bottle then put the pad in top of it. So if I need to add more oil to the pad it’s already there in my necklace!Cons: the first one I ordered had cracked wood. The second one (this one) the runner rim stopper was sealed to the bottle and the cork so it broke off.The scent isn’t strong unless you put it to your knows but that’s the same with my other diffuser necklaces. I like it. I’m wearing it. Hope my review helps. Thanks

VERY cute, but flawed
This is an adorable diffuser! The shape is just like a real acorn. I purchased this as a gag gift for a friend (we have a joke about squirrels) but I actually want to get one for myself as well. This is more ornamental rather than functional. The first one that arrived had a crack in the wooden portion of the acorn's cap. I suspect the wood may have been subjected to some hot and cold conditions during production to have it crack the way it did. So I sent that back as it was not giftable. I received a replacement and everything was perfect until I pulled the cap off of the interior glass bottle and the O-ring broke. Not a big deal, I just tied a small rubber hair tie around the cap in place of the O-ring. For this reason, I feel it is more for the cute factor rather than function. I don't know if the scent gets released well or not as I am gifting this but I would be hesitant to add a liquid and run the risk of it spilling since the original O-ring broke (it is very thin and flimsy). But the rest of the design is well made. Cap screws on easily, and the cord it comes with is a nice waxed cotton with some polished wooden beads. I'd still get this again but just be aware that you might have to get it replaced once or twice till you get one without the flaws that I had.

It's cute and perfect
I think it's a good size to hang on the rear view mirror. It is big but it's also cute and the scent is perfect. Not too strong and not too light. You can definitely smell it when you out your window down. It does sway a bit when you make a turn. Made a wide one and it's fine. The ring inside is well glued and tried pulling it out to see if it's loose and it's not. The whole acorn is smooth, looks to be from 1 piece of wood, and I just love it. This is better than buying those air clips and spent so much money on it! The price is reasonable for the quality of how this is made. You woukd think it would be more than $8. Glad I found this over the others and will definitely buy more if I need to buy as gifts next time!

Most attractive car air freshener ever!
This wooden acorn is well made and is so attractive looking. While some mention that they aren't able to smell anything once they put scent in it, we've found it to be more than adequate. Since we don't use synthetic fragrances in our home or cars, our noses are sensitive to a more subtle essential oil. To help the oil disperse, we used two of the provided round felt pads, one below the insert bottle and one on top of it. We then turned the acorn upside down to get some of the essential oil on both pads. The air freshener has now been hanging in the vehicle for over a month and a fresh scent is still noticeable.

Unique eye catching oil diffuser
Acorn if beautiful wood detail. Adding oil to glass bottle inside and placing cap on does not provide enough scent. Don’t turn upside down as it will spill as cap is not tight fitting. Felt pads were included so I used 2 of them ( instead of wood cap) and screwed on acorn lid for a fairly tight seal but plenty of scent. Again careful turning upside down as oil will spill. You don’t need a lot of oil just enough to soak the pads. I bought two of these to put in closets. I personally think they could get knocked around in a car and oil could spill if overfilled. They are unique and well made. I’m glad I bought them but still working on getting the right amount of scent.

Not the smelliest but cute!
Super cute! I don't really smell the essential oils that much and I'm sure I will even less during the winter but if I turn it upside down quickly then I smell it a bit! Maybe there's a more smelly/efficient liquid to put in there.. either way I'm keeping it there because it's adorable
