A valuable resource
If you write for Christian publications, this is a must-have resource for your bookshelf. It contains the answers to most of the style and formatting questions you'll probably ever have. It's also a great way to double-check what you think you remember from journalism classes or writer's conferences.

DON'T LET THE TITLE FOOL YOU
Don't let the title fool you. This comprehensive style guide is not just for authors who write Christian fiction or nonfiction. It contains all sorts of useful information for writers. It is divided into two parts: the Style Guide and the Word List. Because it's arranged alphabetically, it is extremely easy to use. For instance, you can find out what a grawlix is (those little symbols used to indicate profanity) or how to correctly punctuate dialogue that's been interrupted. Not sure what the difference between callous and callus is? It's in there. Would you like to know how to write the words that refer to the function buttons on electronic devices (capitalization and the size of type to use when writing these words)? You can find it on page 87. This and much more is contained in this handy reference book.

Essential for Those in Christian Publishing
The Christian Writer's Manual of Style is the definitive style guide for Christian writers, editors, and proofreaders. It belongs on the desktop of every Christian publishing professional, right next to the Chicago Manual and Webster's Dictionary. This resource answers questions and addresses concerns unique to Christian publishing that CMS just doesn't cover. I've consulted its earlier editions often every day for two decades and can't imagine being without it.Deeply revised and expanded to keep pace with the significant developments that have occurred in publishing, communications, and Western culture, this new fourth edition has been well worth the wait. It is the culmination of veteran editor Bob Hudson's lifetime of experience on the frontlines of Christian publishing, and as such, it is a treasure trove of information--well conceived, hugely informative, and practical. Bottom line: If you're involved in the industry, this book is mandatory.

fruit of the spirit?
I purchased this book to help me in my Masters of Divinity courses, specifically for one discussion post that I was writing. I was looking for whether fruit of the Spirit should be capitalized. I was disappointed to find that phrase was not even listed in the word list. I'm sure I will be able to use the book during my studies but wish I would have found my answer initially.

Did you ever go to look up a word in a print dictionary and end up reading the dictionary? You'll do that with the Christian Writer's Manual of Style. There's so much good information in this reference manual. The two parts -- Style Guide and Word List -- make finding what you need easy. Whether you write fiction or non-fiction, books or shorter materials, this is an essential resource. You'll wonder what you did without it.

Helpful
My publishing company works with a lot of Christian authors, and there are certain questions that Chicago and AP don't answer. This does. Very useful tool.

Invaluable, yet affordable
This is an excellent, authoritative resource for aspiring and seasoned Christian authors. As a user-friendly reference, it quickly became an essential tool for improving my writing. I especially like the flexibility the author provides in applying industry standards, depending on one’s topic, audience, and even personal style. It’s invaluable, yet at this price, it’s affordable for everyone.

Valuable resource
Very useful. We do quite a bit of proofreading and this is proving an invaluable resource. I learnt the difference between a Preface and a Foreword the other day!!😅
