A valuable resource...UPDATE:Now, after 5 months of sometimes heavy use, I can confirm that these loppers do a marvellous job. We have been thinning invasive spruce from a small wood that was originally a plantation (mainly spruce, some larch and fir) clear-felled about 10 years ago. Spruce have self-sown since, and flourished. Some are now too big for the loppers, but it copes with the great majority. An awful lot easier than sawing.Thanks, Green Jem.

Purchased these to cut down a totally overgrown garden. Lots of hedges and tree branches. They performed well beyond my expectations and in excess of their specification. With use of the ratchet system they easily cut branches 1.5 inches in diameter. Have used them continuously for four days now and no sign of deterioration. Superb value for money.

Really good secateurs. Go through very thick branches with ease thanks to the gears. Only slight downside is that the extendable handles unlock whilst you're lopping, but it doesn't stop you from using them.

Well made, strong and easy to use loppers. The ratchet makes light work of cutting through tough branches and can handle the odd branch a little thicker than recommended. Have used it to cut down an overgrown Mahonia shrub with no problems. Well pleased with their performance. Recommended.

My second pair of these loppers. They take heavy use as long as you don't get too ambitious and stress the extending handles. It's very easy to do this as they are so competent and my first pair have a kink in one handle but still do the business.

i liked the normal version of these better dont like the ratchet it seems to take more effort

When it came to reducing the size of the old woody ceonathus growing well above garage height in our garden, my little pair of ratchet clippers had no chance. I ordered these both for the reach and ability to cut much thicker branches. They did the job beautifully. They aren't overly heavy and with a fair bit of strength can cut through some very large branches.Very pleased with them.

This brand was recommended to me by a friend who cuts down trees for a living and I have to say that they are very good especially for the price. I cut a branch that was 5cms thick and these loppers cut through it like a knife through butter, the ratchet system made it effortless too. Also the extendable handles don't bend easily when fully extended as they are made of metal. A good buy.
