Peck Peck Peck

We have had this book for years. Got it because we love birds and nature and kept it because it is the best chaotic and fun story in our library. The book is full of holes. You are literally paying for a book that is missing parts of pages and words all over the place… and the reason that I’m reviewing it now is because I just came to buy it again for another baby shower and I figured my constant purchasing of this board book is probably is the best review in itself! We still read it regularly even though my kid has technically aged out… so much so that I could recite the entire thing from memory at any point in the day. Super fun story, love the bright/bold illustrations, has a lot of common household words in it which is great for littler kids learning to talk, and it can also be an easy conversation starter for encouraging your kid to do what they love. 10/10, will keep buying this book until the end of time.

When Daddy Woodpecker teaches Baby Woodpecker to peck, Baby Woodpecker has so much fun, he doesn't know when to stop. The result is a lot of "pecked' holes that go right through the book's pages. The story is cute and entertaining. The illustrations, done in primary colors, are bold and eye-catching. And of course, children will get a kick out of putting their fingers through the hoes. Peck, Peck, Peck is a fun book to share with children ages 3-7.

Great book! We got this from the library, then ended up buying one for our daughter and two for our friends. • Sweet, fun story. Plus it actually features the dad and child, which is somewhat rare compared to mom/kid stories. • Cute illustrations, including actual "pecked" holes that go right through the pages! • Nice large size and very sturdy – great as a gift for people with young kids from baby to toddler. I'm sure that some very sensitive people will not like the fact that the young woodpecker basically destroys someone's home, and is applauded by the dad woodpecker, but it's kinda' funny if you don't take it seriously. I'm sure we'll be buying more for future birthdays/baby showers. Highly recommended!

Both my grandsons ADORE this book. It’s fun for them AND fun to read to them as an adult.

Listen…. Just buy it. Your toddler will love it. It’s catchy and different… they love pecking at the holes on the pages. We have read it so many times that I have it memorized.

This is my 6 year old’s favorite book. She can read many of the words and loves to poke the holes. This one is a treasure in our family. We love Lucy Cousins!

What a cute book, my grandson had it read to him at the library and needed a copy of his own.

A sweet book about a wood pecker learning how to peck. All of my kids have loved it from ages 1 to 5ish. They like feeling the holes in the book. I like books that have a dad who is present, loving, and hands on too!

Io adoro questo libro, sono di parte. Mi piace tutto. La storia, la cantilena che si crea, le illustrazioni. Si incontrano tante parole nuove, si ripete il peck peck peck non so quante volte e si accompagna il piccolo picchio alla scoperta di ciò che lo circonda. È un classico che a mio avviso anche chi mastica poco l’inglese può introdurre con facilità.

Als ich das Buch für meine damals dreijährige Enkelin kaufte, war ich mir gar nicht sicher, ob ihr das Buch gefallen würde. Es gefiel - und zwar von Anfang an! Das Buch handelt von einem "Spechtkind", das das "Löcherpicken" üben muss. In gereimter Sprache zählt das Vogelkind eine Menge Sachen auf, die es erfolgreich durchlöchert hat. Am Ende wird es liebevoll dafür gelobt. Mehr passiert nicht. Aber, was das Vogelkind nicht alles löchert! Jetzt nach zwei Jahren, wird das Buch noch immer wieder und wieder "gelesen" und vorgelesen, auch von der großen Schwester, die gerade lesen gelernt hat.
