Devil's Advocate [DVD] [1997]

A very good DVD depicting the Devil 😈 in human flesh using the innocent man for his own good.

I saw this back in the day but forgot about it. I think at the time I considered it a bit cheesy, and Keanu Reeves talents a bit debateable. Also the younger me was more in to scifi and action. But I recently saw a retrospective review of the movie on YouTube and it looked great, so I thought I'd give it another whirl.It is _much_ better than I remembered. Pacino plays the Devil with such lecherous enjoyment (not only sexual), as do his female helpers. And the err... devilish glee with which he messes with people's heads is a joy to behold.I'm not a big fan of the ending, it doesn't ring true for me. Still, I'm glad I watched it - it goes straight on my list of favourite movies for adults.

I really like this film. You have Reeves as the rather uptight young lawyer who becomes corrupted by all the things on offer at his new place of employment in New York - a far cry from his previous relatively uncomplicated life. Al Pacino is wonderfully sleazy (it's not the exact word I'm looking for, but my brain is having trouble) as the boss of the law firm, gradually pushing his protege into a life of raging ambition and corruption. Charlize Theron as Reeves' gradually unraveling wife is excellent. Kevin can't, or won't see what is happening to him until it is too late. However, his final scene is a cracker.

Dark entertainment

I had seen this in the late '90's on tv after it's original release but could not remember the exact storyline. Charlize Theron's break through role, well acted along with Reeves and obviously Al . Lets just say you would not to cross him, menacing is an understatement.

Had a lot of confusion choosing this Blu ray because I was aware that some versions, possibly only DVD?, were cut by around 10 minutes. Kept seeing Blu ray editions with ‘Director’s Cut’ on cover. I would say don’t pay more for these versions because......... Having taken a chance and just received it, I can ecstatically confirm that the UK region free Blu ray which Amazon (I didn’t buy mine from a seller) is selling and which doesn’t detail Directors Cut on the cover, and further which Amazon have detailed with the WRONG (cut) runtime in description, IS THE DIRECTORS CUT running at 144 wonderful minutes.It’s a one disc version, some extras, deleted scenes, interview with director. Good transfer and sound, massive upgrade from my dvd version which I now realise was cut!

Great film,reaves coming into his own

Learn from this, it's close to the bone in all our lives. The devil (note the small initial, never afford him a name or a highlight!) I've met him for real, he loves games, especially with us, and he's not handsome, he's every other person you might meet... Remember only one thing, freedom of choice, free will is yours, just dont choose his side if you can't handle being kindling for his furnaces.

Die Blu Ray ist schnell geliefert worden. Sie befindet sich in einer Amaray. Ich habe mich für den UK-Import entschieden, erstens ist kein übergroßer FSK Flatschen zu sehen, nur das Logo für GB und IRL. Diese stören nicht. Zweitens ist der DEUTSCHE Ton drauf und drittens viel preisgünstiger als die deutsche Version. Für Fans des Films klare Kaufempfehlung. Es befindet sich der Directors Cut auf der Scheibe. 👍👍👍

Al Pacino was brilliant and it was a great movie

One of my fav movies.. Al Pacino plays the part amazingly.
