I never liked hose connectors until this one
I never liked hose connectors but had to replace a damaged one on a 15 year old Hozelock retractable hose. It locks solidly and attachments can be removed and replaced with no leaks. What a great product!

Buy the cheaper plastic ones.
UPDATE:Stopped working after using about 6 times. "Aquastop" is now permanent, so pretty hard to use the hose rofl. Binned. Why can we not have a system of Negative ratings - minus 5 stars.Fairly pointless "upgrade". Sure, it's got a tough metal exterior, but as we all know, these things usually fail on the inside seal. Strange decision, then, to use the same cheap plastic interior seal. Save your money and buy the plastic version at half the price.

Not a premium product
I bought this version as I thought it was the Rolls Royce and would last for a good while. After 4 months of light use it only allows half flow of water through it unless I push the connector forward with positive force. So my sprinkler and and hose nozzle gun only shoot water about 1.5 metres instead of 3 or 4 metres like it should - or when I hold it forward in place. Really disappointed with this, I'd be better off buying cheaper versions.

Almost great - but beware if you have a pressure washer...
It's good and bad. If what you want is something that is the equivalent of the traditional plastic version, but with a strong casing, then this MAY be for you, but beware! I bought three of these and was sadly excited when they arrived. They do have a strong metal casing, but the inside part is exactly the same as the all-plastic version - except in my case. I attached the stop to the pressure washer for first use after the winter and the pressure washer would fire up and immediately die. I assumed it was the pressure washer at fault and that having been left over the winter, it had developed a fault. I needed to get the pressure washing done in a hurry so went and bought a replacement pressure washer. The replacement did the same. At that point I suspected the Aquastop. I removed the metal one and replaced it with the old all-plastic one and both pressure washers worked fine. It seems the tolerance on the valve is different on the metal-cased version, enough to fail with a pressure washer. I have now transferred the metal-cased ones to other hoses and they work fine, but not worth the money in my case.

Noisy, and reduce flow and pressure
These are pretty rubbish to be fair. In theory, they are great and for their intended use, they work well. The stop the flow of water if an outlet is connected which means you can run the hose out, turn the water on without anything attached, then connect your outlet. Don't connect this to a tap, it won't work properly and also don't use on pressure washers as it may impede the pressure and flow. The problem is, the valve can vibrate which means that it makes a noisy and also because of the valve, the pressure and flow is reduced. If you've got a need to stop the flow when you're changing outlets and don't mind a reduction in flow, then go for it. If you like pressure and quietness then I would stick to the standard.

Fourth One in Three Years
The style name for this product is Robust Design! Why have I then bought four in the last three years? The latest one was purchased 13th September 2020. (Note that most of the period involved is winter and not in use) Like all the others it drips, the gun (brand new) falls off it, if you want to maintain full hoze pressure you have to hold it with both hands, pressing the parts together. The description lauds the fact that it's metal, only the exterior is metal, the interior (the important part) is poor quality hard plastic. This summer I'm going to invest in something better and doubt I'll ever buy anything hozelock again.
