I bought for my classroom at school and it works well

It was exactly what my husband was looking for.

Mr. Pen products never disappoint. This compass continues the trend of me becoming a Mr. Pen fan. Compact but functional, their compass is a little stiff when adjusting the radius size but otherwise this gadget is great. I draw perfectly symmetrical circles now and my sketches have never looked better.

This is a simple and effective little compass set. I am using this to help me with drawing shapes on some artistic endeavors, and it is sufficing me decently well in that. It doesn't seem as good quality as the fancier compasses I remember using in school however, but....for the price, its great, and works fine.One minor downside for me is the little piece that protects the sharp part, kindof felt like it was getting in the way when I went to do the circular motions...so that part wasn't really working for me, with the clip moving "up" and "down" , so I just removed the clip when using it, and put it back on when done. But mildly annoying at first...when you go to use it...and the little clip is dragging and interfering. It seemed slightly lose or didn't really do much for me. But..simply fixed with an adjustment. It also seems like the screw part to screw the pencil in place could get lose after some usage...as the unit just seems so-so in sturdiness. But again...fine for the price. As a bonus, it comes with a silly mustache in the case, which you can use to practice tracing I suppose, so I liked that too.Overall: this is not a top end compass, and doesn't feel as sturdy or as smooth as a really good one. Its lighter so more apt to move a little as you move it. Whereas heavier ones with a sharper edge...stay in place better so are therefore easier to use with consistency. but...this is a simple and nice unit, and for the price...its quite fine.

This is a nice little set and comes in its own case to safe keeping. I think this would be perfect if you have a young student that needs to use this type of tool for school work or drawing. It's not too expensive and because it has its own case, would hopefully not get lost. Its a simple little compass and there is nothing to lock it in place, but the expand feature is stiff enough that it won't easily collapse when you draw your circle. If you need something to say put, you may want to get one of their compasses with the expander wheel, to keep it in place. The point comes with a little plastic cover to protect it when not being used. I chose this to use for drawing circles for mandalas, and because I can put a different (white lead) pencil in place, in set of the black lead. I love Mr Pen sets!

Very nice drawing compass with pencil,also has a carrying case.It very nicely made.Its great for kids homeworks or even carpentry.I have used it on drywall even though it wasn't made for that but it works great and so inexpensive.Buy one,you will always find use for it,not just for kids drawing or homework.For the price, it's well worth it.
