A good lesson for young children to show kindness to animals. Well written by Thomas Rippy. I purchased two to give to young family members.

First off, how novel to create a story about a wombat! The author warmly depicts the love between a little girl and a stray animal. The book teaches that we should love and respect our animal friends. As the girl nurses the wombat back to health, she feeds him carrots. I love the frequent use of the expression, "carrots and kisses," as this will surely be the key phrase that my young grand-daughter will remember! This book will strike a warm fuzzy with those who love animals!

I loved this book because it teaches children not only to care for and love animals in general but older animals as well that can't quite take care of themselves. Good teaching tool to have them relate to older people as well to help them and lend a helping hand even if they don't know them.
