My husband is Peruvian, and we eat Peruvian food quite often. One of our favorite appetizers is Papa or Yuca a la huancaina. Recently he has been getting the itch to eat it at home but making it from scratch is impossible because they don’t sell/import some of the ingredients where we live. We thought this package would be an easier option. The consistency of this sauce is pretty good. A little thick like a cheese sauce but not too thick. Definitely not runny or watery which is great. I’ve had some sauces that were made more creamy and cheesy but this is not that. It’s more spicey and grainy, not creamy at all. The flavor is similar to the huancaina sauce you can get at a Peruvian restaurant or in Peru but it’s definitely not the same. I would prefer a closer flavor to the true flavor than this, but since this is the only option to ship where I live, it will do. If I had to give it a rating, I’d say it’s just ALRIGHT. I think I like it better on pasta than potatoes. I don’t make yuca at home, but I’d probably still prefer the pasta. All in all I’m glad we found something we can have shipped to enjoy at home, but I do wish it were slightly creamier/cheesier with the same amount of spicy. I’ll keep ordering for now, until we find something better.
