desertcart.com: Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Vol. 1: 9781974700301: Akasaka, Aka: Books Review: Cute and Funny. - I started reading this Manga due to the amount of joy the anime gave me. The book is just the same if not better by giving you more detail in how the minds of Shirogane and Kaguya work. The story is about Two High-school students who happen to be in the Student Council. The Vice President being Kaguya Shimoniya, A rich heir to a Wealthy company worth more than a Billion Yen. And The President being Miyuki Shirogane, A poor student who got to his position based on pure knowledge alone. After some time the two start opening up to each other but do not want to admit it. You see, whoever confesses their love in a relationship is the loser in this "War of Love". Throughout the series you'll read many crazy antics and scenarios in which they try to make the other confess, most of the time ending in the others favor. All in all this is a great manga to sit down and relax to and I couldn't recommend it enough. Solid 5/5 Review: To win at love - is to lose it all......or so they think - In one of the most prestigious schools in Tokyo, the student council is led by Kaguya - the daughter of one of the most influential families - and Miyuki - a genius, but ordinary (they would call him impure since he is not from a rich family) individual credited for hard work. This unlikely pair seems to work well together and has a secret - they like each other. However the two of them believe the one who confesses to the other is the weaker person, so they strive to trick the other into confessing first. But when you are two genius level intellects, overthinking things is just the least of their worries. Who will triumph in the ultimate mind game - love...... This story was interesting. A mind game of two people as they try to get their love interest to confess their feelings first. While the story does seem to not follow any particular rhyme or reason, it still is interesting to see the interactions of these two as they overthink everything to the point that both tend to fry themselves out. But the one you need to watch out for is the secretary Chika Fujiwara. The author writes her off as a clueless individual, but i have seen too many anime and read too many stories that there is that one who is manipulating things a little for their own entertainment. There has been too many times that you would think one gets the upper hand, but then she does something to spoil an advantage (like the lunch scene and the final chapter when Kaguya was trying to do a dream intervention). I will enjoy reading the second book to see how the war continues.

Good book!
I started reading this in my senior year of high school, I read up to vol 20 because they didn’t have all of them. Soon I’m going to buy all of them because I love this series so much! recommended as a fun read!

Coming from the anime
There is merit to reading the manga even if you are coming from the anime. Of course if you watch the anime you will recognize some source scene here, but there is chapters in between that does not appear in the anime. That being the case, comedic humour from this series does not fail seeing it a second time. The translation is good; personally I would have kept the formality the Japanese are known for (i.e. -san, -kun, -senpai....), but that is just me.

Anime is great, the manga is Awesome! Showing my support for the mangaka!
I haven't heard of Kaguya-sama until I saw the recommendation on Netflix. I watched it and was enthralled by the anime. I looked it up on MAL and saw that the anime was a manga adaptation. So I did a little surfing on some forums and found out that the manga was really far into the story. I did a little searching and was surprised they have an official English translated manga. I decided to show my support and bought all available volumes from Amazon. I usually read my manga online. However, I couldn't explain why but I really love Kaguya-sama's premise and plot. My packages arrived a day early from the stipulated date. UPS doing an extremely good job there.

Good, but translations are worse than fan translations...
The story and art are both great. However, I believe that the translation quality for this book is lacking. Many parts of the book are less humorous and are overall less impactful than fan translations. I would only buy if you are a really big fan or want to collect the books. Otherwise you can just find the fan versions online and it will be a far more enjoyable reading experience. Hopefully there are better translations in the rest of the series.

This is a Top Tier Manga, It's a Giant in the Shadow, Get it.
Just a fun and sanity type of manga I love it, it's a must have if you like or need something other than Shonen, and Seinen, and Shojo, or Sports. I suggest all newcomers watch the Anime first, that will open you up to it, watch the Anime in English on Funimation to understand it. 5 out of 5 Mind Battle Shonen and Love.

Funny take on the romance genre
Kaguya-sama:love is war is an incredibly amusing story that takes a more pathological route by making two people who are interested in each other try to coax the confession out of the other and it's never a clean fight! Definitely one of the better mangas i had the pleasure of reading recently. Can't wait to read more!
