Rod Clip with Zinger

Great idea painful execution
I purchase this clip so I could carry my rod on my vest and on my backpack the design good and sturdy and foam where u insert rod is nice and not cheap quality but once I put it on that where the problems began. The clip works much like your pins from the fair or the ones your grandma wears on her sweater vest during Christmas. The pin unfortunately is lose and when I put it on I knew it was only a matter of time before I was impaled and while removing my rod from my vest that’s exactly what happened. I could feel a sharp sting as a one inch dagger that looked like a tranquilizer needle pierced my man chest. I let out a high pitched scream only Celine dion could appreciate. Not only did my chest hurt but also my ego.....

I love it, a bunch of guides are amazed by ...
Every time I go on fly fishing trips, I blow someones mind with this nifty little thing. Here they are, trying to figure out how to hold a bunch of stuff with two hands while doing a whole bunch of other stuff, while the fly rod is banging onto everything. I catch a fish, net it, pop the rod into this, and do whatever I need to to release. I love it, a bunch of guides are amazed by it usually

Hands free is the way to be
I looked at a ton of solutions to the problem I kept having of only having two hands. A third hand was way too expensive, so this rod holder was a great solution to my problem haha. In all seriousness, this is an extremely well made product. The only thing I wish was different was the needle (Safety Pin) mechanism that they use to attach it. If you aren't careful it'll stab you (trust me).

Neat rod holder
Pros: Quickly secures your pole when you need 2 hands. Havent had any issues with rod fitment (I use a 3 and 5 wt rods) and the pin holds firm to my chest pack. Doesn't mar or damage the rod finish in any way. Really handy to use when tying tippet. changing flies and releasing fish.Cons: Pricey. But so is all fly gear!

Nice for extra hand
This is great for being on the river and trying to change out my flies. It keeps my rod and reel from getting messed up.

No more broken rods
As any fly fisherman will tell you, you can't have to many gadgets. Very well made. Years ago my Montana guide stepped on my rod that I had laid down and broke it as I was releasing a rainbow at Duck lake. Never been comfortable setting my rod down since then. This should solve that in the future.

The fishing accessory you didn't know you needed
Remember when you 1st got a microwave ( I know, I'm showing my age) and you didn't know how much you would REALLY use it? This item has that kind of effect. It is a 3rd hand for the times you need to change flies, add tippet or grab the net and release a fish. It is so simple, you wonder why someone didn't think of it years ago. It weighs next to nothing and you forget that it is there until you need it. My wife and I teach fly fishing classes and we use them all the time, we are constantly asked where to get one while teaching and fishing. My one caveat would be to READ the instructions on the package and not overload it. The device was made for fly fishing where the rods and reels are relatively light, I have used a 9 ft 9 wt rod with it, but that is the exception, not the rule. We have used them for quite a while, mainly with 5 wt and 6 wt rods and have had NO failures. The last few that I purchased from Amazon were orders for friends and students and without exception, they love this thing. Do yourself a favor and pick one up asap.

Awesome gadget!
I was unsure about this when I bought it but I am currently fishing in Yellowstone and absolutely love this little gadget! I changed flies three times and had a much easier time because of this little holder. It's a little pricey but well worth the purchase.

Major Design flaw
I really wanted to like this and I did for the most part. As another reviewer stated. The rod clip itself is designed well and holds the rod but the "safety pin" that you use to attach to you vest kept coming open I tried to pinch it shut but the metal is soft. It fell if numerous times and I finally list it. Certainly not worth the asking price imo.

Best Idea in Years
This rod clip is exactly what I have been looking for. Pin the clip to your fishing vest or jacket and it securely holds your fly rod while you re tie flies, leaders or unhook a fish. It provides a third hand to hold your rod out of the water. Excellent investment.

Fly fishing people will be amazed they even fished without one of these in the past.
The quality of this item is five star. Ease of attachment and strength of holding strength is very good. Clip on to vest could be a bit bigger but is adequate.
