Schmincke Horadam artists Watercolour Skin Tones Mixing Set (6 x 5ml tubes)

1st time Schminke user (m.graham & daniel smith user) Learning curve as the colors are easy to move and lift. Great once I learned how to get around the ease of flow once dried. Cobalt violet hue is a gorgeous purple for adding depth and shadows. I primarily do children portraits and find the madder brown extremely versatile. On my animal portraits it's great for adding depth. Lovely lovely colors.

I think anyone would be pleased with this set as a starter for painting people with Schmincke watercolors. I was very surprised by the Cobalt Violet Hue (473). It’s very purple, but not overwhelmingly so. It blends in seamlessly with the other colors and will make a spendid addition in my color pallet.My only note of negativity was the Transparent Ochre (657). The paint is weird and chunky. It looks like it belongs in a toilet and sticks weird to the brush. It does have a nice color, but I am a little picky about my paint not being chunky so I am not sure I will buy it again. I may buy a another tube to see if it’s the paint, but this color was just off putting.

This is a great way to learn how to mix skin colors.

The burnt sienna is very chalky and ugly. All the rest of the colors are gorgeous. I don't know why they sent a black though? The browns and the blue purple are beautiful with the exception of the burnt sienna.

Great quality product, these colors are great for skin tones and adding shadows to faces. Even though they are small tubes a little goes a long way. Seller packaged them perfectly they came in great condition and arrived sooner than expected.

What is not to like...they are Schmincke.

It does exactly what it is intended to do
