Exceeded my expectations!
This worked better than expected on a 17 day, 6700+ mile trip!First concern was leaking:I bagged everything in trashbags before packing; completely unnecessary! Our 2nd day on the road we had torrential rain & everything was totally dry. Somewhere around day 8 we took it through a selfserve car wash to clean off the bugs. Again, completely dry. Day 16-17 it rained off & on all day.... yes it was still dry when we got home!Tearing:We did 6700+ miles over 17 days with some real temp extremes. Packing & unpacking almost daily. There isn't a tear, sag or crack anywhere. I grazed an overhang, no problem!Securing to the car:Tie a knot to the end of the tiedown strap so it doesn't pull through the fitting & you're good to go. The clasps are seriously tight & stayed that way the entire trip. Originally I distributed our gear level. Then I packed low in front, higher in back, creating a more aerodynamic wedge. It stayed put regardless of how it was packed.Overall, great product. Impressive performance IF & WHEN its closed completely & tied down tight - not straining.

Good value, decent lifespan
Bag lasts about 4 years....or 6 trips? With duck tape, probably 5 years and 8 trips. Those 4 years will be dry trips though. Fits perfectly in our roof rack. I've bought this twice.....probably about as good as you'll get for the money.

Survived a trip from NJ to Florida and back!
We bought this storage bag for a trip from Central NJ to Orlando Florida. I drive a 2011 Honda Pilot with a top rack, but don't have any crossbars. I also bought an EasyGO egp-aut-001 Car Roof Top Rack Anti-Slip Padded Cargo Pad to put underneath. I tied the bag to the top of the car with no problems and it was very secure. We drove through a bit of a rain storm in NC, and when we stopped there I noticed that part of the luggage was a little wet, though I expect it was because the flap that comes over the zipper was flipped up. It made it down to Florida with no problem, and made it back with our luggage intact and unshifted. 2000 miles right out of the box. Not too shabby, in my opinion, aside from my con in my "con" paragraph.ADVICE: (1) As advised in other reviews, make sure you load it up as much as you can to fill up extra space. We loaded one large luggage bag, two smaller overhead-type luggage bags, a large Vera Bradley bag, a baby pack-and-play, a tote bag full of kid toys, and bunch of beach towels, and we still could have fit a few more smaller bags inside. Plenty of space that we didn't have in the car with all 4 of my kids and my wife!(2) Make sure the loose part of the straps are wrapped up after tightening and if you use a no-slip pad, make sure you either cut it to size or tuck it underneath the bag in the front. Half the drive down there was a horrible flapping sound and we kept getting nervous the fasteners were loose, but realized later that it was the extra padding flapping in the wind. Once I tucked it under, we forgot the bag was up there. I also didn't notice a huge difference in gas mileage or car handling with the bag up there. It didn't look particularly aerodynamic, but it worked like a charm!(3) The bag has a reinforced zipper that resists leaks, and a flap with strong velcro that covers the zipper. Make sure the flap is down completely, or else the zipper will leak in a downpour.CONS: The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 (aside from the small leak) is because when I was loading it up to come back to NJ, one of the straps broke off the bag itself as I was tightening it to the car. Luckily it was one of the straps intended for a crossbar, so it didn't make a huge difference. Still, I wasn't happy that part of it broke the second time I loaded it up.FINAL THOUGHTS: To make a long story short (too late), we were happy with this cargo bag. It made it through a long trek up and down the east coast of the US with minimal problems, and it was much more spacious than I expected it to be. If it weren't for the strap breaking, I would have given this product 5 stars. I may contact their support to see what they can do for me, though I'm not traveling like that for a long time to come! (famous last words, right?)

Good product for the price
We bought this for a family camping trip in the South and after our first use, we are pleased with it. First off, it is an improvement from the soft-sided cargo pack we used to own (a different brand) as it has 4 more tie-downs and the tie downs have the waterproofing material around them - which the pack we had before did not have. This pack does hold a fair amount. We were able to pack a large Rubbermaid tote in just under ½ of it, and then could load additional items in such as a large camping stove, sleeping bags, and folding chairs. We were still able to slide our folding table and even some boogie boards on top which was great! The plastic clips made it easy to fasten on as well (although I do wonder how long until one or more of them break). We did drive through some rain -but not heavy downpours so I can’t say it’s a great water-proof pack for any use but we didn’t have any water come through which was great. That said, we have learned from our road trips through the South that it’s not wise to count on waterproof rooftop storage so we pack everything in plastic boxes and/or cover them in garbage bags or the like (we store our sleeping bags in old comforter bags and those seem to do well for keeping most water out). We learned on a previous trip through Florida (with a different brand cargo pack) that arriving at your destination with wet clothes isn’t worth the risk.I would have reviewed this either way but as other reviewers have stated, a review is required to activate the 2-year warranty.

Buy It!
Was so impressed by this cartop carrier! Not only did it make a Philadelphia to Florida ride in perfect form, it stayed tight and secure! I kept waiting for other drivers to flag me that it was getting loose, not once! A couple times along the way I tightened the straps a bit, but not more than an inch or so. I really liked the fact that because it was flexible and collapsible, even a hundred pound woman like me was able to put it on, load it, unload it all by myself, and it was packed! The only thing worth mentioning is that if you will be in a hot climate, be careful! As this is black plastic/rubber it absorbs extremely fast! Very hot to the touch. Park in the shade! Also, you can use a lock on it, luggage lock, worth it for peace of mind. Overall awesome product at a great price for this product I shoved a ton of stuff into!

Good product
Did good on the trip for a standard soft rain. When hitting a heavy rain or took on am inch of water. Overall beside the water getting inside it was a good product. Thank goodness the cargo was beach chairs and boogie boards.
