Awesome well made kettle!!!
Best teakettle that I have ever had! It is solid metal, no plastic, not even on the whistle. Yes the grip is silicone, along with the knob on the lid, but that appears to be molded over a strong metal handle. Handle is thick and strong, though a magnet doesn't stick to it, but one is attracted to rest of kettle. The handle is held on with nuts and bolts, so I don't expect it to pull or melt off, and if it does, can be repaired with a washer under the bolt and or nut. I can't get over how well it is made, and at this low price $20USD. The base is large enough to fully cover a 15,000 BTU (extra large) gas burner when turned on hi, though the manufacturer recommends against this. And you can see, that it looks awesome with other stainless and iron cookware. Looks like it was part of the 'set' though those pots are over 20 years old. Stainless cookware is awesome, and this is another stainless item in my collection. You won't be sorry you bought it. Also it holds lots of water, 3.5 US Quarts enough for lots of instant coffee, tea or just hot water.

Heavy grade steel
Looks great on the stove, a bit on the larger size for a kettle. The quality is good too. Heavy grade steel well worth your money for this kettle. Easy to clean and haven't had any issue with it staining - been using it everyday for the past 3 months. Recommend!

Great Tea Pot!
Bought this for my wife. She's been going on and on about how she wants a tea kettle because the last one I purchased her was way too small. We are a family of four with two children who drink tea daily. This unit is big enough to make a cup of tea for all of us with left over water still in the pot! Water stays warm for about an hour after use and the whistling is nice. Handle doesn't get hot but rather warm to the touch. Got this guy on sale and for the price I paid I have to say i'm impressed. Doesn't have a copper base so doesn't heat up as fast as others, but it's very well made.

Good construction
While this not be the most pretty teakettle, it's certainly well designed. Have used for several months before writing this review. We are live on both our boat & Airstream depending on the time of year. So it's important for safety to have a handle that is anchored on both ends of the kettle. Unlike most kettles, the anchoring is done with bolts ( ie, reason it's not as attractive) so it can be easily tightened if the bolts become loose in the future. Previously have had kettles with welded connections erode with no way to repair. Stainless steel appears to be standard for this type of product, don't expect a problem there.

Sturdy tea kettle
Very pleased with this. The hefty stainless steel should hold up for years, unlike the cheap aluminum kettles I have to throw away after a year. The broad bottom covers my gas burner, so the flames do not lick up the sides and heat up the handle. The handle does not fold down, but the opening is sufficient for a good scrubbing. The spout closes when you release the trigger, so contents stay hot. The handle is properly placed for comfort and avoiding the steam from the spout. I give this thumbs up.

Fire ants do not stand a chance against boiling water
I got this tea kettle for my wife. She is in constant battle with the fire ants that have invaded Texas. As we have free roaming animals, she is opposed to using poisons of any kind.........so, between diatomaceous earth and boiling water, she enters the fray. The kettle makes boiling and despencing water easy and quick. She is a gift from Heaven.

Rust after some time and hot handle
I would say that for the year or so I was able to use this kettle, I would have given it 3 stars - it boiled water FAST, but the handle was VERY hot, even though the silicon allegedly keeps it from getting too hot to touch. We always had to use a towel to take it off the stove.I'm ultimately giving it 2 stars because, after a little over a year, we started to notice rust spots on the inside, bottom of the kettle. We tried EVERYTHING to remove the rust, but nothing worked. Ultimately we had to throw it out due to additional rust spots beginning to form. I'm not sure this is truly stainless steel - I have plenty of other pots/pans that are in fact stainless steel and have not rusted after over a decade.

Love this BUT it leaks boiling water in places it shouldn't - easy to burn yourself
I love everything about this kettle but it has one major flaw. Boiling water leaks out of the bottom of the spout, not just the pouring hole. I burnt myself the first time using it as did my husband, because we weren't expecting hot water to pour out of those areas. I will be contacting the seller about this.
