Fan is quiet
I was concerned that the small fan on the card would be loud. I cannot even hear it in my OPNsense firewall situated in my Livingroom.

I bought this network card to use in an OPNSense firewall/router machine i was building, I wanted to use one port on the NIC for 2.5gbe WAN and the rest for 2.5gbe LAN. I've been using this for a few days in my firewall and have had 0 problems since install, its been extremely stable. Before installing OPNSense on my machine, I tested the card out on windows and Ubuntu and it seemed to be working fine as well. I'm very satisfied with my purchase, i was reluctant at the lack of reviews but I've had a good experience so far, if anything changes I will update this review.

Bought this to test with OPNSense. First time using it and setting up a router with my own hardware. I dropped this in an i7 4790, 16GB DDR3, 256GB NVME and this four port NIC. OPNSense detected without a problem and was up and running at 2.5gbps. I have a 2gig fiber connection and hasn’t given me any issues. I will note the card did not have a fan like the picture and does not have the option to add one. The heat sink is large enough that it shouldn’t be an issue but will tell with time. The model number received matches the pictures and one ordered so could be a different revision. I’m on the fence on returning this if heat is an issue since this is in an itx build with limited fans. Overall happy it with it.

Was able to get this working for pfSense 2.7. You have to install the Realtek package. Try to do this prior to installation of the card or it’ll be impossible to get the packages (you need a working WAN port). 1. Enable secure shell in Advanced settings and SSH as admin to your firewall management address 2. Select 8 for shell and run “pkg install realtek-re-kmod” (the package installer will instruct you to do the following) 3. Edit boot “ee /boot/loader.config” 4. Add the two lines if_re_load=“YES” if_re_name=“/boot/modules/if_re.ko” 5. Save file by pressing ESC and answering leave editor and save 5. Reboot by typing reboot

M.2 10GB NIC, this is exactly what I needed in my homelab. I have a Mini-PC that acts as my Proxmox host, and my NAS holds all my virtual machines. over a standard 1GB connection, the response time on the VM's was pretty awful. The solution: I pulled the NVMe Drive, installed this in its place, and re-loaded the OS on a SATA SSD. Now all my VM's are much more responsive. If the pictures make you think the braded cable is fragile, then you would be right. Handle with care! Only reason this is 4 stars and not 5 is the braded cable makes me nervous and for the price they could have engineered something more robust in my opinion. Otherwise, perfect product.

Proxmox did not immediately recognize it and attempts to alter the networking file did not work. I reinstalled proxmox and it then recognized it and allowed me to change settings from the gui as opposed to the underlying network config file. However after installation if any vm caused network saturation on the card proxmox would go into a kernel panic. Updating drivers and installing intel headers did not resolve. I had intended to pass through the card for an opnsense vpn but instead I was forced to allocate two ports for regular vm resources so that it would not go into kernel panic. Saturation still caused timeouts on a port but with the second port it did not go into kernel panic.
