Great potential not completely realized
I’m pretty serious about my coffee; and have invested quite a lot of effort and dollars on equipment to ensure I can have top notch espresso at home — were talking a hefty dual boiler machine with PID, an industrial strength grinder with big titanium burrs, a dosing scale to confirm that my ‘seat of the pants’ judgment based on four decades of experience is on the mark, a fleet of tampers, water quality testing stuff. But every now and then, Vietnamese ‘pourover’ coffee made in a phin, using dark roast arabica and robusta beans and a bit of condensed milk, is an appealing alternative. Until recently, it seemed impossible to find whole bean Vietnam-sourced coffee for that purpose - but Black Cow seemed to tick off all the boxes for me. Woman owned, organic, ad infinitum. The beans I received were a bit of a disappointment. For starters - and worth docking two stars right off the bat — the package does not display a roast date, unless it is well hidden and I missed it. Based on the coffee I made with these beans, ground by hand in a Hario ceramic grinder and given the typical 5 minute infusion in a 6 ounce phin, I’m reasonably sure they were not roasted and packed within a week or so of delivery and more likely have been in the bag quite some time. One can make decent ‘Vietnamese style’ coffee using one of the typical Italian arabica/robusta ‘espresso blends’ from Lavazza, Danese and the like, or using dark roasted New Orleans or Cuban style blends. One of these days, I’ll have the opportunity to try this at home using recently roasted, top notch Vietnamese grown coffee beans. I’m not sure this was that opportunity.

Not full bodied
I am a BIG fan of Vietnamese Coffee, or "Milk Coffee" I have been making them at home for my morning cup of coffee for over a year now. I was excited to try this brand but sadly was disappointed. It lacks flavor. I thought doing a whole been coffee and grinding it fresh per cup would boost the flavor experience but it just wasn't very strong coffee. It's got it's caffeine boost though, so I can't add more coffee to make it stronger or I would be flying! I used the same amount of it as I do the other brand I'm used to (Trung Nguyen ground) and apples to apples this one unfortunately came up short.

This coffee is delicious! I bought for a friends birthday because she likes Vietnamese coffee and she went crazy . She purchases regularly from you and I will too !

Great coffee, bad packaging!
I fell in love with Copper Cow when I received their pour over coffee in a subscription box. I decided to try their whole bean coffee. The first bag was perfect, but the second bag came with a hole in it.

This is some damn good coffee!
Little expensive, but it is "ethically sourced and sustainably grown". This is a really smooth, yet rich cup of coffee. I want to order a vat of this stuff!

A favorite
One of our favorite coffees. Sorry. I can’t tell you the under notes or fruitiness. All I can tell you is it’s a good strong and smooth cup of coffee
