When I saw that Utopia had a meat cleaver, I knew it was just what I was looking for. I received a set of cutlery about 15 years ago from a promotion from them and they still look and perform like new. They get used every day and are still perfect! Anyway, so far I've cut up 80 pounds of chicken leg quarter (I make my own dog food) and this cleaver makes the job so much easier. I've missed the joints several times and chopped through the bone and it went right through. It is still razor sharp and I haven't had to sharpen it yet. This cleaver is definatly perfect for this job. Just a side note...never put your good knives in a dishwasher. Always wash them by hand and then dry them. They will perform like new for a long time if you do this and use them for the jobs they were intended for.

Shipped fast and arrived excellently packaged, with a protective sheath and perfectly sharpened, and included maintenance instructions in packaging. Good one piece, heavy cleaver, exactly as it is supposed to be. Both ends of the cutting side have a point which is very convenient for putting in a cut at just one point to insert bouquet garni etc in a roast. Perfect, and at a very reasonable price. Would recommend it to all serious chefs and butchers.
