Single use only
Price at review: £12.99So this is a well engineered temperature logger. It is intended to be placed with items which need to remain chilled so that there is an auditable log of the temperatures that the items have been exposed to. For example fresh produce or medicines during transportation. This is not something that typical consumer would ever use.It appears to do its job exactly as advertised and I used it to measure the temperature inside my fridge. I didn't go the full 30 days as I wanted to get the review posted but I would fully expect it to work for 30 days as it wouldn't likely drain batteries that quickly. The main thing I could say which is bad about this is that it is a single use piece of electronics which really is bad from an environmental point of view and also adds to the cost of businesses using this. I can understand why it is single use as they can only guarantee that it is right when it leaves the factory and its waterproofing is done by it being placed inside a sealed plastic bag which you open to connect it to a PC to download the report. It isn't advertised as being much more accurate than most typical inexpensive thermometers so I would expect there is a good chance that it is accurate within that range. It isn't actually possible to verify that the certificate of conformity they provide but the values it reported are in line with two other thermometers I put next to it when it was in the fridge. It does exactly what it says it does but its very hard to stomach a piece of electronics designed to be thrown away after 30 days.

Professional quality
This is a single use data logger which once switched on and off, cannot be used again as it will not switch on again. It’s mainly useful for recording temperatures in transportation, food or medical storage etc where a reliable record of temperatures at regular interval is required for auditing or claim purposes. It has the date and time internally set and you can’t alter it. The expiry date is printed on the product. The records of temperature are kept at 5 min interval. It records both in deg C and deg F. A detailed report in pdf with graph and CSV format is created automatically when you switch it off. Once you insert the logger into the USB A port of your computer, this device will be automatically detected by your computer and the 3 files will be shown, which are data in CSV format, pdf report and certificate of validation. The automatic detection time may vary from computer to computer but it won’t be too long. Mine was immediate.I used it mainly to test its capability. Put it in the medicine compartment of the fridge. I am in fact very pleased with its results and data collection. To switch ON you need to press the power button for 5 seconds. The comparatively large LCD screen displays the information very clearly. This unit can collect around 30000 data points (though in the product photographs it also says 65000 readings), which at 5 min interval will equate to around 104 days of data. However, the product description says it is meant for 30 days. So I am not sure it can be used for only 30 days or more. I stopped it after 15 days of use as I need the results. A battery indication is also displayed on the LCD screen as a tick mark which gives an assurance. It also gives a low battery level alarm. It can record temperature in the range -30 dec C to 70 deg C with a very high accuracy. It has IP67 water proof capability which makes it suitable for use at any indoor, outdoor, wet, and demanding industrial and commercial settings. The build quality appears good. I wish if I could use this multiple times. Hence at this price, it’s not an economic option for personal use. For commercial its purposes the price is very negligible. This will be a very reliable data logger for the food / medical / transportation industry.

Environmentally Unfriendly
My company uses temperature monitoring and tracking probes for some of it's products so I thought I'd take a look at this item to see what it's value would be.Firstly this is just a temperature monitoring probe and it will only last 30 days as well as being single use.30 days would be fine for UK and European jobs but it could be an issue for global journeys by sea especially if they are travelling around South Africa due to the Yemen issue. The data logger looks smart in it's green and white case and is well designed with a large LCD display and a simple on/off button. It has a USB connector at one end which fits a USB A female PC connector.Once the power button is pressed, that's it, your in data logging mode and you have to use the logger straight away. The temperature range will suit most uses, -30 to +70 degrees centigrade, so the inside of a cold store to the unbearable oven of a 40 foot container crossing the equator is catered for. Each logger has a barcode and a unique security number which will suit use with shipments where security and auditing is required. This number is also recorded on the data produced.Once the logger has done it's work its time to retrieve the data. There's a CSV and PDF option for the up to 65,000 data points. Importing the CSV file allows the data to be examined and played with in Excel but the pdf report is perfectly adequate for general reports.Verdict: Well built, easy to use, accurate and gives a clear report of the data collected. Not happy about single use though, too much of this with electronics so gave this 3 stars. Affordable though.
