Avolusion PRO-X Series USB 3.0 External Hard Drive for WindowsOS Desktop PC/Laptop (White) - (10TB) (Renewed)

My search for a cost effective and large amount of storage space ended here and resulted in me purchasing this 12TB Avolusion PRO-X Series USB 3.0 External Hard Drive. In fairness, this is the second 12TB HDD that I’ve purchased from this same company. My previous drive was a different model but I’ve had great success with that drive, which made me confident to purchase another model from this company. I’m only purchasing this drive to use as additional storage space for a computer. I can’t comment on the drives performance when being utilized with a gaming console. Below is my honest experience with this product.Why I chose this hard drive:What really got my attention was the extremely fair price for such a large amount of storage. I had been searching for months and was determined to get the most bang for my buck but still wanted a reliable drive. Most of the time I am storing large media files and having plenty of space is by far my top goal. Single files can be rather large (50GB+) and with my need to occasionally delete and replace files, consistent operating quality and a drive that maintains that quality is highly important to me.What’s in the box:You receive the hard drive, a wall plug-in power adapter, a USB cable, instruction manual and a small cradle piece, in case you prefer to mount the drive upright vs having it sit flat. I have the drive sitting flat and have had no issues with it remaining that way. On the rear of the drive is a power on/off toggle switch. Once the drive is powered on, it has a solid blue light/line that illuminates on the front panel. Operating it is simple, it is plug and play. If you don’t want to reformat the drive you don’t have to. It is ready to-go right out of the box. Please note: I recommended using the USB cable that is included. If you happen to use a different cable and the drive is not being seen by your computer chances are the cable you’re using is not USB 3.0. The drive does require a USB 3.0 cable in order to connect to your PC or laptop. Total amount of usable space is 10.9TB.After 6 months of use:After using this drive for a little over 6 months I’m happy to share that all of my initial hopes have been achieved. Yes, it’s still only 6 months but I have been using this drive 24/7 and currently have a little under 2TB of available storage left. I have written, deleted and replaced well over 12TB and the drive is still performing just fine. No issues, slowdowns, weird noises or any challenges have arisen. I’ve occasionally checked the temperature and the drive has never been, what I would consider too hot. The overall performance continues to meet my expectations and I certainly plan on continuing to write, delete and rewrite several more TB’s of data. For a drive that operates around the clock, it has performed the same, if not better vs other name brand HDD’s I own that had cost me much more money.Conclusion:I am sincerely thrilled with every aspect of this HDD. With my goal to receive as much storage as possible at a price that wouldn’t break the bank, this drive has truly delivered. One of the reasons I had initial reservations with this product was because I couldn’t find any thorough, or what I would consider informative reviews. I hope that my review can help alleviate that concern for any other potentially interested buyers. If you’re looking for a large amount of reliable storage from a drive that will hold up well and continue to perform, you’ve come to the right place. Also, the company not only manufacturers a reliable and quality product but they back it with a 2 year warranty. I have no problem recommending this drive and I will certainly not hesitate to purchase additional storage from this company, next time I’m in need of additional storage space.Please note: I am greatly committed to this review and if anything changes or malfunctions, I will come back and revise the review immediately. The first red flag should have been when checking CrystalDiskInfo the minute I plugged it in and seeing nothing but Raw values with no way to interpret said arbitrary hex code. It would appear the company is intentionally hiding the likeliness of failure of these drives from the consumer. I can understand they were working (supposedly) drives pulled from enterprise applications but hiding HOW used those drives are is unethical as hell. Like selling a car with the odometer wound back or completely disconnected with the claim you don't know "when" it occurred so you can't tell the customer how many hundreds of thousands of miles are actually on the car.The case for these drives is beautiful, though there is an unnecessary amount of blue LED lighting (for me). The base of the unit is a nice form of painted steel. Both the shipping box and the retail packaging are undamaged but the steel base on this unit has an odd bulge on the left side so that the base doesn't match the casing like it does on the right side (see images). This drive failed in less than a day which is inexcusable for intended use as backup drive. Especially when 40MB/s was the best throughput I could get with it compared with the other 2 10TB+ drives I have had experience with.

I love the way it looks - it is so sleek and stylish. It is also very easy to use. You can just drag and drop or copy and paste.

I was a little nervous because of the unusually low price and how much storage it offers at that price point. I also did see some mixed reviews. The good reviews seem to be very good and the bad ones seemed to mention a lot of problems. But I was able to load up terabytes of data fairly quickly and plug it into another computer and use it right away. For my needs it is perfect. I will likely be buying multiple of these unless I have problems later. Will update the review if I have any issues later on

The 8 TB hard drive worked perfectly fine with my PS5, and for the price, it was an amazing deal. I normally only play 2-3 games at the same time, so I decided it was a lot better investment and external 8 TB USB HDD than an internal NVME SSD that due to the pricing, it would have only been 1 TB. By the way, since I saw some reviews about being used drives and failing, before connecting to my PS5, I formatted it and run a full diagnostic, including SMART and Surface Tests, and all the tests came back after 9 hours perfectly fine, even the time was expected to be 9 hours for 8 TBs.
