Q: I followed the instructions of 2 tbsp coffee per 6 oz of water. why does it come out too strong? the woods and water is supposed to be a light roast.

Strength and darkness of roast are two completely separate factors. The ratio of coffee to water is what determines how strong it is. That’s all. What that means is that any coffee can be brewed strong or weak. 2 tablespoons to 6 ounces of water might be stronger coffee than you are used to. Most Americans have gotten used to this because a lot of restaurants try to use as little coffee as they have to to keep costs down. Cameron’s recommendation is how coffee should taste. The darkness of the roast is exactly what it sounds like. It’s about how long the beans were left in the roaster. Think about steaks. A well done steak is always going to taste a little burnt and you end up tasting the char at least as much as you taste the meat. In the same way, dark roasted coffees like French roast or even espresso roast give you a little more of the roasted taste then just the taste of the coffee. Again, you can take any coffee in the world and simply not roast it very long and produce a “light roast” coffee. But the biggest factor with all of this it’s where the coffee comes from to begin with. The flavor of Mexican coffee, for instance is incredibly different from the taste of, say, coffee from Kenya. There are varying degrees of acidity, smoothness, and simply flavor. So you could get coffee from Guatemala, roast it for a short time, and brew it fairly strong, and you would get a very different cup of coffee from the same beans roasted longer and brewed weaker. The short answer to all of this is that you did get a light roast coffee. Experiment with backing off the amount of coffee to water until it tastes closer to what you prefer. Cheers!

I bought the medium roast of Cameron's coffee. I don't know about Woods & Water.

Q: Why is buttered rum, chocolate covered cherry, and a couple others priced so high in comparison to the rest of the flavors?

The Demand, the flavored coffee from them always cost a little more, like the highlanders grog. But it is so good!
