Time for Treats VKP Brands Popcorn Popper, medium, Black/Clear

As a popcorn lover, I was really excited to try my new popper. During the first use, the wand sounded strained when rotating. Good thing I was standing right there watching, as it started to smoke! There was no denying the burning mechanical smell. I immediately unplugged it and carefully placed in in the sink. The bottom was hot to the touch for quite a long time. I can only imagine the damage this may have caused if unsupervised. In my opinion, the wand sat too high. I believe this allowed kernels to get stuck under the wand restricting it's movement. The wand should sit low enough to push the kernels around. I was able to easily return the popper to Amazon. I gave it two stars as I did like the design and size. I ended up purchasing a silicone popper from Amazon; this was new to me. It was half the price, and works well.

I have another popper I use to compare this one to. The popping or heating area is larger than my other one and will pop in a shorter time or faster because of the larger heating area once it gets hot enough to pop. My other popper being smaller makes it easier to pour popcorn in smaller containers for a group without spilling popcorn all over.

I haven’t used this popper more than a half dozen times. The black paint is chipping off and it is well taken care of. Also, because the cord doesn’t come out of the base, it is extremely awkward to flip over after popping.I tried to save money by buying this, but I’m not willing to gamble anymore. I just ordered a Stir Crazy to replace the one I had for many years. I should have done that in the first place.Don’t waste your money unless you do mind a little paint in your popcorn!

The stir rod design is so bad I could not get it to stay in place. I removed it as it was scratching the non stick surface. I now pop the corn while shaking it constantly. The popper seems to get hotter and hotter (no thermostat, I presume) so I have to be careful to turn it off just before it is done popping. I have to flip it over immediately when d one popping or the popcorn will burn while sitting there.

The plastic bowl top was flimsy and got very hot during popping. The metal stirrer did not sit properly in the base of the popper so didn’t move the kernels around. The electric base also became very hot during popping. Kernels did not pop well. This popper was a disappointment. Unusable.

Popper was delivered March 19, 2019. Today is June 29, 2019. I use the popper about once a week. So, after 12 or 13 uses, the stirrer stopped working. Popper was hot and popped some corn, but the stirrer motor wasn't turning. I would suggest buying another brand.

Excellent for popcorn. Although I stir the kernels in a cup in the oil before pouring them into the top of the machine, this helps get almost 90% popped. Really does a lot of popcorn too!
