Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control Kit

My ceiling fan stopped working after less than 3 years. I reviewed the control and receiver options in Amazon and asked if the product I selected would work on my fan. I got a message from the vendor who stated that it would not work, but referred me to a kit that would. I ordered it and it has worked like a charm ever since. I am more than pleased with the response from the vendor and the recommendation. Since I'm electrically challenged, I had an electrician install it, so I cannot comment on the ease of installation, other than to state that it took him about 10 or 15 minutes to do the job.

I got this for my father as a Father's Day gift. Bottom line: It works better than the string he had attached from the cord to his chair. However, they have a type of fan that they think is very expensive. There was a bar running through the middle of the inside of the fan and there was no room for the receiver. My father attached it to the outside of the fan and it works. From what my mother says, it works great and doesn't look that bad.**Update**One year later and my parents say it is one of the best gifts they've gotten. They attached the remote to a side table and it's so powerful they don't have to take it out of the holder to operate the fan and lights. They like it so much they thought about buying one for another fan in the house. Would definitely buy again!

I bought this for my mom's house. The switch on the way into the room was wired to the outlet, but logistically putting a lamp on that outlet didn't work.It's kind of a pain to take the whole fan down, but the result was worth it. The fit is snug if you don't trim the fan cords down. That said, it fits perfectly.The packaging is very basic and instructions too. I located instructions for fan remote installation on the Home Depot website. My only annoyance was that they don't include the battery needed for the remote. Since my mom didn't have any, I had to run back out to get one and make sure it worked.

This is actually the 3rd time I've had this Universal remote. The first was a gift and we loved it! Very easy to install and a great remote which is easy to use in the dark.. We liked it so much we ordered another one, unfortunately it didn't work correctly. So we processed the return and packaged up the remote with label to return. I was sooo happy when I got an email from Amazon which said I didn't need to return it and could throw it away. And they sent me the replacement with 1 day delivery! The new remote works great, no problems whatsoever. What I'm so impressed with is Amazon's thoughtful service, one day delivery on the replacement and I didn't have to return the faulty remote. Whoo Hoo!!!You ROCK Amazon!!!

The receiver was easy to wire, but the size made a difficult installation. The yoke was small and if the ceiling box wasn't a standard 4-O 2-1/8" deep box the receiver wouldn't have fit under the canopy. I have one fan that has a "pancake" box in the ceiling and the receiver would NOT fit whatsoever. I recommend a retrofit to an even deeper box if you are going to use this product. It works very well now that its in place.

I got this for my open floor plan. I bought three of them and keyed them all to the same remote. It is just easier when entertaining, cooking, or watching a movie to grab the remote and make the adjustment. It has three fan speeds, my fan actually has four. The slowest speed is not activated. Not a big deal to me as the slowest speed has the fan barely turning anyway.. The lights dim as expected and installation was very straight forward. The receiver has a lot of extra wire, I cut off what I didn't need, which made installation visibly simpler.

The range is very marginal. I have two fans within 12 feet of each other. At least half of the time the remote will turn one light on and the other off. Click it again and they reverse. Then I have to find a place where the remote will turn one off to get them back in sync. Very frustrating. I've tried both remotes, new batteries, adjusting the antennas, everything. Nothing helps this situation.

It works as expected. Now I can safely hang my laundry from the ceiling fan blades and start the drying process without going to the wall switch by using this handy little remote. Off, Low, Medium and High...so many choices yet so simple to operate. Should I use my thumb? My forefinger? Like I said, this thing is very flexible for the modern-day ceiling fan owner. Five buttons, people....COUNT 'EM.....F-I-V-E!!!!Purchase this puppy and you will have CHOICES available at your fingertips....(or your thumbtips, I'm still trying to find out which to use in the instructions...can't seem to find anything on that).
